Our 24th Year

May. 17, 2007 - What I am Reading

Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, one of my favorite books.  I have no idea how many times I have read this since high school.  Dickens has written wonderful character studies in this book.  We see so clearly what kinds of persons Pip, Joe Gargery, and the others are and why they do the things they do.  I also love the descriptions of the surroundings.  I can picture their home, the moors, Miss Havisham's world.  Oh, if only I could write like that!

Again, this is a free book, courtesy of Planet PDF (http://www.planetpdf.com/free_pdf_ebooks.asp?CurrentPage=1).

Amanda *loves* this book! She just said so, as she read over my shoulder! She has read it 3-4 times.

Just wanted to also say, congratulations on being a grandma again...the waiting must be just as hard for you as for your daughter! And I know a little bit about how you feel in going back to school. I'm not getting a major degree, mind you. But I have been taking night courses in American Sign Language, and what a change of life it is! Have fun as you start all these new endeavors!
