May. 16, 2008 - Poison Ivy
Kathryne woke up yesterday morning with some slight puffiness under her right eye. At first, I thought it was just seasonal allergies. As the day went on, her eye was more puffy, and she broke out with some bumps on her face and hands. Then I began to attribute it to some face/body painting she had had done at the Children's Ministry dinner on Wednesday night.
By the time she went to bed last night, it was looking pretty puffy, and I gave her two adult Benadryl. This morning, her eye was almost swollen shut!
As I was loading her up to take her to Urgent Care, our neighbor called. Her little girl- Kathryne's friend- was broken out in the same way! We concluded it was poison ivy. They were playing at the edge of the woods Tuesday night, and we told them to come away because they might get into poison ivy. Too Late!
Kathryne ended up getting a steroid shot, an oral steroid, prescription cream, and a prescription antihistamine!
Here is my poor puffy baby this afternoon. Believe it or not, her face looked much better than this morning.

Ooooohhhhh!!! Bless her heart! That has got to be sooo itchy. I am glad you found out what it was, though, and that she got some treatment for it. Praying for her!!!
