This morning I stumbled across this well known bible story. The part that caught my attention that I had never noticed before was Exodus 13:17-18 And it came to pass, when Pharoah had let the people go. that God led them them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt. But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea: and the children of Isreal went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
God doesn't always work in the way that seems best to us. Instead of guiding the Israelites along the direct route from Egypt to the promised land, he took them by a longer route to avoid fighting with the Phillistines. If God does not lead you along the shortest path or the path of least resistance..don't complain or resist. Follow him willingly and trust him to lead you around unseen obstacles. He CAN see the end of your journey from tne beggining, and he knows the safest route.
This was a good message for me. Especially as we are coming close to a turning point in our lives. We have an idea of what we expect to happen in the coming months.. But we could be wrong...or it may take more time..I just need to know that GOd is controlling my future and that he knows the end result if I just follow him. Some things just seem so simple to me...I am a point A to point B sorta person..But life doesn't always work that way sometimes we need those detours. |
