Bensing Blessings and Growth

Nov. 20, 2008

WOW time has flown by!

I really had hoped to keep up to date with my blog.. Boy did I fail there! So much has happened in such little time. Oh gosh where do I start. Our 'short' stint in the camper trailer turned into 5 and a half months.. I am sorry to say my patience really started wearing thin.. But I know Gods plan was at work in our hearts. He lead us to our beautiful home that is much more than what we need and such a wonderful blessing.  My children are having so much fun running exploring our twelve acres.. Really stretching their creativity.  Life is so different out of the military its been, well, an adventure still. But along those ups and downs there has been so much Joy.  Homeschooling this year has been a so much fun and encouraging. Its absolutely wonderful to know my husband will be home at the end of each day. And the knowledge that I am may be settled here for nearly forever is so unreal. When I walk to the pond or stroll around the property I am just in awe that this is all ours... Its truly amazing.  The joy I get at watching the kids run and feel so comfortable and free...Our new church home adds a different dynamic to our lives. Its like being brought into a new family.  Yes there are the times when they really hurt you and drive you nuts, but when push comes to shove they are there to love and support.. And forgive.  Our lives seem so different. Everything is completly new.  So let me tellyou about our new home.. Mathew tells everyone we are farmers now.. :o) We have 11 chickens right now.. and boy is that a challenge.. Caring for them is not hard its just interesting.. I have never had chickens before.. and I did not realize that think they are pets.. Which is why we still have 11 alive instead of just 9.. I bought two of the Roosters for meat.. But they started following me around and were so neat that I couldn't bring myself to butcher.. ( DONT MAKE FUN OF ME!) The other rooster I kinda took on because he needed a home and my other chickens hate him. They pick on him. But he is not worth eating he is a bantam silkie rooster, not much to him.. and then the other 8 are Rhode island Red Hens for laying eggs and of course they are not doing that! (nobody is serving a purpose on my begining farm).  I keep hearing to wait til spring and they should start laying.. so right now I have a whole bunch of freeloading chickens! But they are entertaining. They follow me all over the yard.. Its funny and when I am in the kitchen they stand at the door pecking at it waiting for food.. We rented out our pasture for grazing so we have 8 spoiled cows that I just started feeding. I love cows they are my favorite animal.. But when you bring feed to the trough and you have 5 full grown heifers, 2 yearling bulls, and a calf  RUNNING at you it makes your heart skip a beat.. Today I decided to move the trough to the fence so I could just through the feed over.. My favorite Cow is named Jersey (can you guess what breed she is) She breaks into the front yard often to eat the grass and hang out with us. She also licks you like a puppy. I hope to have the money to buy her soon and have her as my milk cow. Well there is an intro to our new lives. Hopefully I will keep it updated better now. The kids and I have many little projects completed that I would like to share. Love you all

We miss you guys too much. When are you coming back? If not soon, then we may just have to bring our own camper and "camp out" on your property. Love you guys.
