Genesis 21-24
Posted in Bible
|
In Genesis 21-24, we see the fufillment of the promises made in earlier chapters. Issac is born, and everyone is happy. That is, until Issac is weaned. Abraham held a big feast on that day, and Sarah saw Ishmael laughing.( I don't know why....) Sarah asks Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away. God says it's all right, so he does. For some reason they go to the desert. Seeing as Abraham only gave them one skin of water, that doesn't sound like a good idea. I mean, water is not readily available in the desert. So they ran out of water, and Hagar sticks the 13 year old kid under a bush, and goes off to cry cuz he's gonna die. But remember 13 years ago when Hagar was in the desert? Yeah, the promise. God rememberd. An angel came and showed them water, and Ishmael grew up in the desert. Meanwhile, in another part of the Holy Land.... Sarah dies of old age. :-( Everybody is sad, and she is buried in a cave Abraham buys for this very purpose from the Hittites. This is the first land owned in the Holy Land by what would become the nation of Isreal. So, years pass, and Issac is now old enough to be married, and he wants a God-fearing wife for his boy. So he takes his cheif servant, and says to him "Put your hand under my thigh." It's true. I think that's how they made promises and vows back then. (Abraham does this at least twice.) Anyway, Abraham made this servant promise that he would go back to the land of Ur and find a wife for Issac, but he couldn't take Issac. Tough job, huh? Abraham was confident that God would help this servant out. That's some faith. So the dude goes out. (there was a good chance his name was Elezar of Damascus, so we'll call him that.) Elezar has a bunch af gifts for this lady that he has no idea how he's gonna find. So he gets to Ur, and sits by the well, cuz drawing water was for the ladies. If you stand by the well at about sunset, you get a good view of the women of the town. Before any came out though, he said a prayer. He asked God to give him a sign. The sign was to be that if he asked for a drink, she would not only give him a drink but water all his camels too. (no, he didn't smoke. The horse like animal with the humps that spits) Now, this was no easy task. He had ten camels, count em, 10, and they could each drink about 10 gallons of water. Also, you had to watch out for that spitting that we talked about, cuz that water is drool fuel. So before he's even done praying, a girl named Rebecca comes out. He asked the million shekel question, "Can I have a drink?" Right on cue, she says " Yes, and I'll water your camels too." So he sits there watching her while she does it (probably making sure she will go through) and when she's done, shoves a bunch of jewlry on her and asked her where he dad's was and who her dad was and if he could stay there. SURPRISE!!! She's Issac's second cousin!! So he goes to her dad's house and introduces himself and tells his story. Rachel's family leaves it up to her. For some reason she was more than willing to go to a forgen country and marry a guy she never met. (Maybe it was the sign from God???) So they go home, and Issac is happy, and Rachel is happy, and Abraham is happy, Everybody is happy.(Wow, lot's of mood swings in these chapters, huh?) What we can learn from the story of Issac and Rachel is that you don't need to worry about who you're gonna marry, cuz God has things all planned out. I'm not saying she'll feed your pet snake for ya, but God knows who will be your other half. Courage and Godspeed. legochristian |

Genesis 13,14,15 and 16
Posted in Bible

Yep, we're back at the beginning. This year we are reading McChenye's together as a family, and I am reading the book of the bible our sermon series at church is on. This month, it is Genesis. In Chapter 13, Lot and Abram are having troubles. There just isn't enough room in that town for the two of them. So, Abram, decides they should split up. Lot thinks it's a good idea, expecally when he gets to pick where to go first. He picks the fertile good land, and Abram gets the desert. God though, commends Abram for letting Lot pick first and not wining or anything when he got the short end of the stick. In 14, we find that the green, fertile valley wasn't the best choice. The two kings in this area wern't exactly popular with the other kings. So, outnumbered two to 1, the other kings run for it, and the 4 other kings who attacked carried off a whole bunch of plunder and hostages, including nephew Lot and his family. Abram hears about this, and gets together the two kings who ran away, and his own little war band of servants who were battle-trained, and went in and Uncle Abram saved Lot and his family. In 15, God makes a promise to Abram, and changes his name to Abraham (sounds a lot better, don't you think?) This promise was that Abraham was going to be made into a huge nation, and that the whole world would be blessed through him. Now in 16, Sarah (changed from Sari) tells something that she's worried about to Abraham. She has no kids, and both she and Abraham are over the hill. Abraham tells this to God, and God says not to worry. Unfortunatly, "Don't Worry" doesn't seem to be in Sarah's vocabulary. She gives Abraham a second wife so that she can have kids through Hagar (Sarah's servant.) So Hagar's gonna have a baby, and she thinks she's pretty high and mighty and doesn't do what Sarah says. So, she blames Abraham, and Abraham tells her to do what she wants with her servant. So Sarah beats Hagar, and she runs away. In the desert, Hagar is met by an angel who tells her to go back and submit to Sarah, and gives a similar promise to Hagar about the kid in her belly, that he will become a great nation. So she goes back and has Ishmeal. Now, I challenge you to find lessons in these passages. Leave a comment with the ones you find! |

Megaman!
|
Megaman is here! The famous navi or robot (also known as rock or rockman in japan) has come to my home. He is manly on portable systems, like the DS or Gameboy, but he has made appearances on the SNES (Super Nentendo Entertainment System) In Megaman Battle Network 5 Double Team DS, He is a navi, Sort of like a personal avitar with its own personality that reflects its owners to a certian degree. In Battle Network five, the net is amazing, with the primary way to have fun on it is to visit with other friends navis, and bust viruses that sometimes invade. But, a rouge band of navis has taken over the net, a terrorist orginization called Nebula, run by someone called Regal. Megaman is recruted to take on the job of liberating the net, together with a team of navis and their owners led by Colonel and his owner Baryl. BUT, it's probably not as easy as we expect. We will find out later, as I'm not very far along in the game. Also, this verson is a two in one. You can play the team protoman version, where the team is different, and the leaders are Protoman and his owner Chaud. We will play that after Team Colonel. Courgae and Godspeed legochristian. |

Our home has been invaded!!!!!!!
|
AHHHH!!! Leave my stuff alone!!! No! Don't eat that!!!!! AUGGGHHH!!!! Our house had been invaded by ROCK MONSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You may ask "WHAT?!?!?!?" It turns out, Lego came out with new Power Miners sets, and the bad guys are rock monsters who are eating crystals. The crystals make the monsters stronger and give off massive amounts of kinetic engergy. (that means they make earthquakes.) They are starting to shake apart the entire planet, so the Power Miners are trying to stop the monsters. My little brother and I got two sets, and each set has at least one rock monster and one power miner. So, we have two little rock monsters roaming around the house. To find out more, go to the Power Miners website. Courage and Godspeed, legochristian |

Hey guys!!!

Hi everyone! Sorry for the lack of new material. You may have noticed a new theme on my blog....... Is it obvious enough? One of my favorite series, Angel Wars, Is coming out with their fourth installment in their series..... Well, actually it's the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth. Yes this new DVD will include FIVE count em 1 2 3 4 5 new episodes on one DVD, totaling up to over 90 minutes of content!!! That's nearly feature length!!!!!! The story? Well, I'll copy from the newsletter I got: "Kira and Eli are the newest members of the Guardian Force, a group of angel warriors sworn to protect the world from the powers of evil. Not yet full guardians, the young duo still has a lot to learn, but when darkness descends over the city, the time for training is over. Faced with the responsibility of delivering hope to a lost city, they must learn to work together to drive back the soldiers of darkness and grow into the warriors they are destined to become." It comes out on March 17, only 4 days before my birthday!!!!!!! How cool is that? CHRIST- mas went well, and new years passed without incedent (except for watching some crazy chimpanzees go into space and save a wierd alien planet.... Watch Space Chimps.) This new year holds lots of promise, as there is a hunting trip planned for me in the fall, and I want to add more Fantasmia stories, try to blog about my quiet time, and maybe start an online comic based on a superhero I created called Surge. So this new year sounds like it's gonna be pretty awesome!!! Courage and Godspeed. legochristian. |

Sorry....... 2 Chronicles 29
Posted in Bible

TOMORROW IS CHRIST-MAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I've been so erratic about my bible posts, my new years resolution is to do it every day I can get to a computer. Anyway, in 2 Chronicles 29 we hear about Hezikiah. A good king who followed the Lord with all his heart like David did. (we also had several other bad kings before) Hezikiah went in to sanctify the temple of the Lord, because the evil kings I told you about had put unclean things in it, and just to be safe, they sactified the whole temple. You never know if pigs or something had gotten in there. It was an elaborate process. When they had finished, they offered a sin offering for all Israel, and also 100 of each sacrifical item that God said they should use for that sacrifice. Hezikiah wanted to serve the Lord with all his heart, and he did. The priests couldent even skin all the animals by themselves!!!! so some other people purified themselves and helped out. legochristian "People should hold [Liberty] up in front of them every day and say, 'I'm free!...'" 2 Chronicles 26

Remember where we left off? Yeah, Joash was king. He was a good king, but then the priest he grew up with died. Then, things went screwy. He wasn't serving God to please God, but to please his priest friend. We need to watch out for that . Then his son became king when he died, and the same thing happened. Godly man for the first part of his reign, then goes to pot in the later years. Then we get to this chapter. Uzziah was king in place of Amaziah, his dad, who had died. (he's the guy who was "like father like son") And he served the Lord, and "as long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success." But then the trouble came, " After Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall" He had gone into the Temple to do what only the priests were supposed to do. The priests there tried to dissuade him, but he got ticked. While he was ranting and raving at the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead. Leprosy is the word used in bible times for many different skin diseases, but the most common thought of usage is where the skin turns white, and gets all bumpy. Fingers, toes, noses, and even hands can fall off because of this disease. It is also very contagious. In Jewish culture, it is considered cerimonially unclean,so the priests rushed him out of the Temple. To tell the truth, he didn't wanna be there anymore anyway, cuz' he knew that it was God punishing him. He had to live in a separate house, and had it for the rest of his life. He wasn't even buried in the tombs of the kings, but in a field near them. An importiant lesson we can learn from this guy is that if we do things God doesn't want us to do, or aren't prepared to do, God will try to warn us. If we don't listen, there can be bad consequences. Think about it. legochristian. |

2 Chronicles 22-23
Posted in Bible

Okay, pay attention. Remember the king we read about earlier? Well, he had a good long span of years and then he died. Then came his son. He went the wrong way, so all his sons but the youngest were killed. He died when a disease of the bowels made his bowels come out of his body. (eeeeeewwwwww!!!!) His son was Ahaziah. His mom worshipped Baal, and he listened to his mom a lot, so the nation was going to pot. But there was this cool guy named Jehu, who God commisioned to kill the house of Ahab, and get rid of Baal worship, (you can read about him in 2 Kings, I think.) and Ahaziah worshipped Baal, and hung out with Ahab's decendants. So, Jehu finished him off. But they buired him in honor because his grandfather Jehoshaphat was a Godly man. So when the evil witch of a mom learned that he favorite kid was dead, she started to kill off all her grandkids. She missed one. A little baby named Joash. His Aunt took him to the temple to hide him, and in seven years the High Prest got fed up with his evil grandma and decided it was time for Joash to be king. I want you to read how they did it. It's in 2 Chronicles 23:1-21. Read up! 5 more days till CHRIST-mas. legochristian |

2 Chronicles 19-20

In 2 Chronicles 19-20, a king named Jehoshaphat, was jumping. (he was one of the kings who had tried to do good.) He was about to be attacked. So, a prophet told Jehoshaphat that God wanted Jehoshaphat that he needed to look toward God. So, that's what Jehoshaphat did. he went to the temple with all of the nation, and asked God to take care of the advancing armies. God told Jehoshaphat through another prophet that he just needed to suit up for battle, and He would take care of the rest. So, Jehoshaphat did what God said. He and his army got ready, and on their way to where God had said the three armies would meet, (that's right there were two armies trying to attack them) they sang praises to God. While they sang praises, the two armies were ambushed, then, the ambushers turned on each other. Every attacker died. So, when Jehoshaphat got there, there was nothing to do but plunder the bodies. There was so much that it took them three days to cart it all off. Nothing like a big God who loves you to do your fighting for you and leave you with the pleasurable job! legochristian |

Okay I was thinking.........(I hear you all going "UH OH!!")
|
I was meditating on christmas (not the "oum" type, It really means just thinking and focusing on something.) and I came to the realization, that you can say Jesus was selfish, but hey, if you had to die to get something you really wanted (that new lego set) would you do it? No way! Jesus knew what he had to do. Hey, He knew everything! He loved us so much that He didn't leave us to hell, but gave us hope, so we can be with Him! With that Christmas thought in your head, I wrote a differing version of a song. (sing to the tune of "The Christmas Song" or "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire" The Crazy Christmas Song or Jack Frost Roasting on an Open Fire Jack frost roasting on an open fire, Chestnuts nipping at your nose, Yuletide terrors being told by a fire, Kids pulling their coats up to their nose, Everybody knows hanging a turkey, and eating some mistletoe, Can help to make a crazy song, Tiny tots, with their eyes open wide Hear scary stories of Christmastide They hear that Santa died today, He won't be bringing any presents their way, And Rudolf got the flu, The other reindeer and elves don't know what to do, And so I'm offering this simple question, Who wrote, this crazy silly song? Oh who cares, you might as well know it was me! Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, to you! And, a joke These chess fanatics walked into the lobby of their hotel, and started to vist, and brag about past victories. They got louder and louder, so the manager came over and told them that they would have to go somewhere else. "Why?" they asked. Without missing a beat, the manager replied "Cuz' no one want's to hear chess nuts boasting by an open foyer." |-D ( that's me laughing so hard I fell over and my eyes are shut.) Okay, so I had to skip ahead a few days to get caught up. In these chapters, and if we look in the chapters before it, we see that Solomon had died, and his son Rehoboam is now king. Obviously he didn't get the same offer from God, or, he didn't ask for the same thing. Rehoboam is a evil king. The people had been working hard, and Rehoboam told them that he would make them work harder. He turned the people away from the one true God, and turned them toward Idols. SO, God sent the king of Egypt to straighten things out for him. Rehoboam saw him coming, and humbled himself before the Lord, so God truned the king of Egypt away. BUT, Rehoboam didn't try to fix anything. We will have to look toward his son, who became king at the end of the chapter, to do that. Also, a quick note to my readers who AREN'T homeschool blogger users, You can still leave comments on my blog. I can send you a quick E-mail answering any questions if I already know you and you leave the comment with a simple username I know. When Sorrows Like Sea Billows Roll..... and a tag.
Posted in Bible
|
I went to men's breakfast today and had a really nice devotion that I thought I would share with you in my own words. Horatio Spafford was a succesfull businessman. He had property in Chicago, and a nice family. But the great Chicago fire destroyed his property. Then, he had a new baby boy, but it died soon after it was born. he was good friends with Dwight L. Moody, and Moody invited him to England to speak with him. They decided to go to Jerusalem as a family as well. Spafford had buisness issues to take care of, so he sent his wife and daughters on ahead of him. About 2 weeks later, he read in the paper that the ship his family was on had crashed into another ship and drowned. The paper did not give any word of survivors. Later, he recieved a telegram from his wife, and it read saved alone. As he traveled across the watery grave of his daughters, he penned the words, When peace like a river attendith my way/when sorrows like sea billows roll/Whatever my lot/Thou hast taught me to say/It is well/It is well with my soul. Spafford had such hope in God that he could truthfully say It is well with my soul. Do we have that trust? Spafford's trust was proven to be right. He set up a permanent residence in Jerusalem with his wife, had another family, and taught people about God in the Holy Land. Do we trust God with everything, so we can say It is well? And on a lighter note, a Tag. 1 ) What is the perfect time to put up your tree? A:The day after Thanksgiving 2 ) When do you take your tree down? A:Generally after the New Year, but I would leave it up all year round if I had my way. 3 ) What are some ideas for homemade tree decor.? A:LEGO ORNAMENTS!!!!!!!!!! In 2 Chronicles 3 Solomon starts to build his temple. He overlaid most everything with gold. In the holy of Holies he made two cherubim sculptures also out of gold. He worked very hard for the Lord. The patterns and designs were intricate, and the materials were expenseve. He wanted the best for the Lord. |

In 2 Chronicles 2, Solomon starts to finish David's preparations. He goes and sends a letter to the king of Tyre, asking for gold and precious woods and silver and......Well you get the picture. He also said in that letter things which made me think he was being very humble about it. He was also going to make himself a palace after the temple was finished. But that's another story. The king of Tyre said he would send the items Solomon asked for, and praised him exceedingly. Solomon then took a census of all the aliens (non-Isrealites) in the nation, and put them to work according to their talents. In other things, there is increasing terror attacks in Mumbai India. They just found some explosives in a train station, the terrorists had taken over two hotels filled with hostages( thank goodness we got them out of there, most of the hostages were still alive) and they raided a coffee house. I think we need to pray for the people in Mumbai, we need to pray that the terrorists will stop, that the people who died were right with the Lord, and that the terrorists will get right with the Lord and turn themselves in, and praise God that the explosives were found before they could go off and hurt anyone, and that God would work through the police officers trying to keep the peace. ZZZZZZZZZZZZhuh? Oh, I must have dozed off. I just got up. In 2 Chronicles 1 the main character in the story of Isreal changes. Solomon, David's son, becomes king. And to thank God for it, he goes and makes a thousand sacrifices in the temple (which was a tent). Then, when he's sleeping after all that, God comes to him in a dream and askes him what he wants. God gave him 1 wish. Solomon thought and asked for wisdom, because he was just made king over a whole nation, "who's people are as numerous as the sand on the seashore". God is happy with this, so he goes and gives Solomon what he didn't ask for too, weath, long life, enemies struck with a plauge, all that jazz. And Solomon is grateful (Hey, who wouldn't?). And that's the end of 2 Chronicles 1. Only 23 more days till CHRISTmas!!!!! legochristian |
