Actually, I've used bits and pieces of different ideas almost since we started homeschooling 13+ years ago. We have used Saxon for most of our math with R&S for early grades. I don't like textbook approaches to history because they seem to suck the life right out of the subject! My oldest son, almost 20yo, loves history and knows alot about it even though we didn't use the textbooks. We read alot and watched the history channel. While he was a basic training, he read aloud a book about some war to his room mates! I thought that was pretty good. We've use Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons and are beginning to use the Right Brain Phonics program with a daughter I believe has dyslexia. |
