!I did it

My first three batches of freshly milled whole wheat bread have been a hit!!!!   It was quite time consuming, as I am using a KitchenAid grain mill attachment and it is rather slow.  But, it worked and did not even burn my motor up!   I have my mother-in-law's original KitchenAid (30 plus years old) and it works great.  So anyway, I milled the grain and did a triple batch of dough.  One was for dinner rolls with soup last night, one batch of cinnamon rolls for this morning and a loaf of bread for sandwiches, toast, etc.  I can see myself really getting the hang of this bread-making thing!!  I can't wait to try more things and expand the different type of whole grains we eat.

I need to invest in a good freshly milled whole grain cookbook.  Any suggestions?

I bought this book when I got my grain mill. It was one of the best cookbooks to start out with. They did a wonderful job in teaching a "newbie" about fresh ground grains.

I advise all my "gals" to get this book.

I love a cookbook that a friend gave me. It's written by Sue Becker from The Breadbeckers. There are many recipes in there, but my favorite part is a section that uses one bread recipe to make many different variations. There is also a lot of teaching in the book.

I hope someone on here can help me. I have just started grinding my own wheat and making my own bread about 2 weeks ago. I had one good batch and since then I have had a bunch of failures!! Some are things I know I did wrong, like forget to add salt, but some I just can't figure out what I is going on. My biggest problem is that it is not rising well at all and I have a lot of very think dense bread. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated!!
