Crafting to go

We leave freezing cold Alaska for our much anticipated trip to Hawaii on Sunday.  I am taking a book to read (probably "Chasing Fireflies" by Charles Martin).  I also wanted some sort of sewing/knitting/craft type project to keep busy on down times.  So I perused my latest favorite blogs:

I finally found a project to bring along with me.  It's a Valentine's Day Penny Rug that the first blog mentioned above, Northreads, had made and turned out really cute.  Here's a pic:

It is made out of felted wool and the supplies I need to bring with me are minimal (needle, thread and small scissors).  The pattern for this is a freebie from http://www.fonsandporter.com  I am using a mint green background with the red hearts and pennies.  I love working with felt and this will be a perfect runner for on our table during the month of February.

How adorable! I may try a cheapie felt version to see if I'm any good at it. In fact, I may even take this project to our Valentine's Keepers At Home meeting and let the girls try their hands at it! Thanks!! :)

I just hopped over to your blog this evening and saw that you were in Hawaii, which is where we currently live. I hope you had a wonderful time. We would love to get over to visit Alaska sometime. My husband was saying it would be fun to go on an Alaskan cruise.
