"The days are long, but the years are fleeting."

Jan. 19, 2008 - Photo Hunt- "Important"

The theme for this week's photo hunt over at tnchick.com is "Important".

I chose this picture for many reasons.  I see many things in this simple photo, and many memories come to mind.

First and foremost, this is my husband's hand.

In this picture, I see his wedding band, representing our strong committment to each other.

I smile as I think of our love for each other, our recent anniversary, our winter wedding 14 years ago, and how we once lost the cash we had hidden to buy our wedding rings with.

I am reminded of the time my sweet Hubby nearly lost his ring finger when he momentarily hung from this wedding band from the rafters of our porch.

I look at this picture and see a hard working man, spending his day off painting his daughters' new room, because he cherishes his children.

I laugh at his tape measure, adorned with a Christmas sticker by one of the children over Christmas break, when they all spent days together attempting to finish this room.

I see a hand  of the man that provides for this family.  The man that helps wash dishes and shovels the yard.  The hands of the man who has changed more diapers in 14 years than many women do their entire lives. The hand of the man that spoils me so.

I love this picture.  Because I love the man who holds that paint brush.

Loved the photo and the concept. What kind of a camera do you use? Loved the clarity on some of those photos.

Amazingly well said. So very special. My late husband lost his ring finger on a bolt on top of a swing set caught his high school ring (he had been working on for his nieces and nephews). Luckily, the doctors were able to sew it back on. And this wonderful man still chose to wear a wedding band, because of his love for me.

Just love this photo and the journaling that goes along with it. Yours is a VERY important story and hopefully it has (or will) find it's way into a scrapbook for generations to come.
