Oct. 11, 2008 - Remington Charles Boye Jackson

Just one picture for now, as I'm supposed to be in bed.  :)  I have taken a lot more, but this one was taken the day he was born.  I'll post more in the coming days.  I promise!  (just try to stop me!)

He seems to have red hair, and possibly already brown eyes.  He is very content and I am very smitten!!
Love,
Leah

ps. He looks just like Sully's newborn pictures!!  How lucky am I!?!  :)   Another handsome little man!

Oct. 9, 2008 - It's a BOY!

Remington Charles Boye Jackson  was born this afternoon, at home with the loving assistance of two midwives and big sister Celina.

He tips the scales at 9 lb. 14 oz, and is 22 1/4 inches long.

Mommy and Remington are both doing fine, happily resting and recuperating.

Thanks for your prayers!

Oct. 3, 2008 - Just LIFE.

The other day I had to run in to town.  It was such a beautiful day that I took along my camera.

The children and I got to see some sandhill cranes on the "flats" near the river.

And three caribou resting, also near the river.

A couple days ago the children dug our potatoes.  We didn't get many (no-one else around here did either) because of the very few sunny days we had this summer.  Still, it is always fun to dig your own food out of the ground, and apparently the children decided that their hands would work just as good as shovels.

The turkeys and chickens are doing good.   We're thinking this guy might be the guest of honor this Thanksgiving dinner.

Our rooster (the little guy on the left) has finally learned to crow.  It's pathetic!  We laugh out loud every time we hear him.  Poor little bantam!  He's one of two roosters in the coop, and the other one is BIG and has a serious attitude.  Someone is going to have to fly the coop... we just don't know which one yet.

The last few days have been beautiful and the children have enjoyed playing in the leaves.  We rake them up then throw them into the chicken coop and the hens just LOVE it!!

Tony has been busy working on building our new barn.  It's going to be SO NICE!!  Just yesterday he put up some of the upstairs walls.  He's awful handy to have around.  (and handsome ta boot!)

ME?   I'm just lounging around eating bon-bons and watching Oprah.

NOT!!

I'm busy schooling the children, making jams and jellies,  knitting hats, preparing for the baby to arrive, running to weekly midwife appointments, cooking, cleaning (well, at least the parts of the job that don't require reaching the floor in any way) and growing a human.  Other than that, I just sit around bored.  Ha ha.

I hope all is well with you and yours and that FALL is just as beautiful in your neck of the woods as it is here.  God is sure good to us, and we are so blessed to live in America.   It's not perfect, but I sure do thank the Lord for the abundance we have and the freedoms we enjoy.

In Him,

Leah
