Entertainment without Electronics Challenge

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

(Big thanks to Mrs. Marlow and her son Ryan for making this graphic button for me!!!!)  If you would like the code, please let me know.  Thanks!

Do you know how to have fun without electronics?  Do you think you can survive a week without it?  I know I can!  I'm asking you to join me.  I think it will be fun to hear how everyone's week of entertainment without electronics went.  I think many American kids (and adults for that matter) are electronically dependent (they're bored without electronics).  Let's be different!

Here are the rules:

You may use electronics (i.e. the computer) for things not relating to entertainment.  For example, you may use the computer for work and school but not just to have fun.

Here are some examples of things you cannot do: You cannot surf the internet, play computer games, play video games, read other people's blogs, chat on the telephone, listen to music on a boombox, radio, or ipod (create your own music!), blog (unless it's for work or school), watch TV, watch DVDs/videos, etc.

Just remember, if it has anything to do with the TV, computer, or any other electronic thing, you can't use it for entertainment (only work or school!).

When the week is over, please post about how it went.  Please tell us what you did instead of electronics.  Here are some questions (you don't have to answer them...these are just some examples of things you can talk about):  Did you get more constructive/meaningful things done with your time?  Were you able to have fun without electronics?  Was it easy or hard?  Now that it's over, do you think you will spend the same amount of time using electronics for fun or less (or hopefully not, more)?  Were you bored or not?  Would you do it again?

The week of Entertainment without Electronics will start on March 17th (of course, feel free to do this any week).  Whether you start doing it on March 17th or later on, please comment and sign Mr. Linky so we all know you're doing it.  Thank you!

Hi Alyssa, Thank you for your prayers for Caleb. I posted an update on him.

What a great challenge. I hope you get lots of participates. I would join you, but the only electronic I use for fun is watching a movie with my mom. lol

Blessings!

I did this for a week (except I called it a "Technology Free Week"). I like your title for it better though. My electronic free week was great, I was able to be much more productive and get a lot done! I am thankful that I did it and encourage everyone to take one sometime!

I'm happy to put a sticky at the top of my blog at Suzy Scribbles (that blog has way more traffic than the WW, but I can put it there, too, if you like).
Do you have a graphic button? I think that would be very cool. If you can't make one, let me know, and I can come up with something. Since it's not beginning until the 17th, I think we have time to come up with a fun graphic for people's sidebars. I'd like to have a simple one that links back to your post.
And then I shall carefully consider if I feel led to participate, too. ALL of my computer work is...well...work. I don't surf the net but use a lot of computer-related options to help my publisher market my books. In fact, I look SO forward to Sundays, when I don't even turn the computer on--it's OUR day of rest.
Get back to me about the graphic....

p.s. I like your new colors!

The button looks real nice on your blog. I'm glad you like it. It was our pleasure to serve you in this way. I like making these things. You should go over to my Circle C blog and see what I did for the categories! I made each category its own graphic with a tiny picture and everything. It was so much fun...but tons of work.

Is this the contest you want me to participate in? I looks like the only one you have here. That sounds fun but I'm not sure I could last a week! I might try it but the problem is that It will be hard when my mom is watching a video and I want to but I can't. I wouldn't be able to right?

Thank you for the theological discussion we had this week. I think to know the Word better you have to discuss it in that manner sometimes. :)

Oh lovely icon, btw!!

Well, as you can see, I'm on the computer and you aren't supposed to if you are doing the challenge... If I do join, I won't do it for the whole week.

I put up the graphic for my Weblink Wednesday. Good luck to all you committed bloggers who are going to take the challenge. My whole LIFE is computer these days as I do a 440-page proofing job (yes, for $$$), revise my PowerPoint presentation for my young authors conference next week, print out the rest of 50 writing workbooks to take with me, and in general live planted in my chair in front of my computer. LOL
My brain is so mush by the end of the day that I crasg and relax with a Stargate SG-1 episode. So...I'm afraid I would fail the challenge and will not sign up for a commitment I cannot keep. :-) At least this week.....
