Today… October 26, 2009
Outside my window… Soggy fallen leaves. It's wet and cold outside.
I am thinking… about a *real* blog post that should be coming up soon.
I am thankful for… my new account on Vimeo. I like it better than YouTube :).
I am wearing... A dark red t-shirt and jacket and jean skirt.
I am reading… The Bible (Job right now). It hasn't even occurred to me but I don't think I'm reading anything else right now. *Gasp* Could it be? No wonder I've been feeling somewhat book deprived :). I've just been too busy.
I am creating… Novel, speech, blog post(s), etc.
One of my favorite things... comfortable sandals (I know tis' not the season but they still come in handy :)!)
For education this week… You can see my list of subjects for this school year here.
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … keeping the kitchen clean
A spiritual lesson I’m learning… joy
A godly character trait I plan to work on… steadfastness
Scripture I am memorizing… I'll be reviewing this week.

Today… October 4, 2009 I'm doing it a day early to make sure I don't forget or post it too late this time :).
Outside my window… It's sunny and cold.
I am thinking… about how important it is to "do hard things" for God's glory and to not waste my teen years.
I am thankful for… by God's grace, being able to finish More Than Conquerors Magazine! Have you visited yet? There's a giveaway!
I am wearing... A blue/green Steps for Life t-shirt and black skirt
I am reading… The Bible (Job right now) and The Bible Answer Book by Hank Hanegraaff
I am creating… Novels, articles, speech, etc. You can read my first apologetic speech here.

Sep. 7, 2009 A Young Maiden's Daybook #19
| HsKubes' Gal, (with Miss Peggy's permission) has adapted The Simple Woman's Daybook to A Young Maiden's Daybook for us young ladies who are not quite women yet. You can read her orginal post regarding it here.

Today… September 7, 2009 Happy 18th Anniversary, Dad and Mom! I helped my mom put together a video to surprise my dad for their anniversary. If you would like to watch the video, please go here.
Outside my window… It's wet. I have been enjoying all this rain.
I am thinking… that there should be an exciting announcement posted to this blog in the next week or two. Until then, we will be dropping hints. The first person to guess correctly what the announcement is about will win an early Christmas gift. (We're leaving this a surprise, too :)). One last thing: If you are related to me, you are not eligible for the prize. I would still like to hear your guesses, though :).
I am thankful for… not getting salmonella yesterday. Those breaded frozen chicken things can be deceiving...beware! Even cooking them in the oven at the right temperature for the right amount of time doesn't always work. My piece was half raw...and I didn't know it until I had eaten part of it. I was terribly anxious about getting salmonella but Thank God, I did not get it. I am so grateful!
I am wearing... A blue shirt and dark blue jean skirt
I am reading… The Bible (Proverbs right now)
I am creating… Articles and novels. Editing a short story. If you would like to read Part 2 of the Accomplished series, it is here.
One of my favorite things... when my younger brothers behave :).
For education this week… You can see my list of subjects for this school year here.
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … taking care of children (i.e. babysitting).
A spiritual lesson I’m learning… to do my best not to be anxious about anything.
A godly character trait I plan to work on… Not worrying
Scripture I am memorizing… I need to get back to this! Hopefully, I'll work on Philippians this week.
I am praying for… We are taking part in the 30 day prayer challenge for Muslims during Ramadan (which is right now!). You can read what my mom wrote here.
For the rest of the week… Besides school, I hope to...start reading a new book, get back to drawing, and whatever else comes up. |

| HsKubes' Gal, (with Miss Peggy's permission) has adapted The Simple Woman's Daybook to A Young Maiden's Daybook for us young ladies who are not quite women yet. You can read her orginal post regarding it here.

Today… August 24, 2009
Outside my window… It's sunny.
I am thinking… I wish it weren't the last week of August already! There is going to be SO much to do this week.
I am thankful for… no longer being sick (except some coughing)! Yippee!
I am wearing... A white-grey shirt and dark blue jean skirt
I am reading… The Bible (Proverbs right now)
I am creating… Drawings, novels, articles, short story, etc. The series of posts finally started yesterday. Part 1 is here.
One of my favorite things... bagels. Especially the cinnamon raisin bagels from Costco and those newfangled bagelful things (those are really good :)!).
For education this week… Writing, drawing, baking, piano, and more.
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … scheduling. I schedule my own schooling (with mom's permission...she looks over my schedules). So I need to start scheduling for school! I actually love doing it. I'm a "planner".
A spiritual lesson I’m learning… the difference between a wise person and a foolish person. I want to be wise!
A godly character trait I plan to work on… Being wise
Scripture I am memorizing… I will be working on some verses in 1 & 2 Corinthians. (I didn't get around to this last week since I was sick but I hope to be able to this week.)
I am praying for… We are taking part in the 30 day prayer challenge for Muslims during Ramadan (which is right now!). You can read what my mom wrote here.
For the rest of the week… Finish up a few articles, work on a few novels, draw a few drawings, memorize a few verses,...okay, so I was trying to be a little silly but I really do plan to do those things. I'm also going to be baking an apple crisp, scheduling my schoolwork, and I would love to try making a skirt but who knows if that will happen :). |

Today… August 17, 2009
Outside my window… It's bright and sunny and not too hot...yet.
I am thinking… how embarrassing and educational it can be to look back over old failed manuscripts...you see the flaws so much more cleary than when you were writing it! There are SO many things that the "editor" part of me sees that need to be fixed but I have to work on my new manuscripts not the discarded ones :). (Not to mention, it wouldn't be the same if I went back and changed things!)
I am thankful for… my new watch! Thank you, Daddy and Mama! (I hope this one will last as long as my old one :))
I am wearing... A light blue shirt and dark blue jean skirt
I am reading… The Bible (Proverbs right now) and Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper (I read to my Dad and sometimes Mom, too). I can't believe I forgot to mention it on here...we've been reading it for awhile. It's a great book! I'm getting closer and closer to finishing my summer 2009 booklist. (And the summer is getting closer and closer to finishing itself!)
I am creating… Drawings, novels, articles, etc. The series of posts I mentioned last week *should* start tomorrow. We'll see :).
One of my favorite things... freedom!
For education this week… Writing, reading, drawing, piano, knitting, and more.
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … how to wake up early? Does that count ;)?
A spiritual lesson I’m learning… the difference between a wise person and a foolish person. I want to be wise!
A godly character trait I plan to work on… Being wise
Scripture I am memorizing… I will be working on some verses in 1 & 2 Corinthians.
I am praying for… Various people and unreached people groups/countries.
For the rest of the week… a ton of writing, a little reading, a lot of drawing, some piano, no idea how much knitting, and whatever else pops up! |

| HsKubes' Gal, has (with Miss Peggy's permission) adapted The Simple Woman's Daybook to A Young Maiden's Daybook for us young ladies who are not quite women yet. You can read her orginal post regarding it here.

Today… August 10, 2009
Outside my window… The sun is starting to shine but it's still cool. (Yippee!!)
I am thinking… That the outdoor wedding I attended this past Saturday was beautiful and wonderful! It was especially wonderful because both the bride and the groom loved God and they both saved themselves for each other. They shared their first kiss on their wedding day. That shouldn't be rare...but sadly, it is...and it was so great to see! It's still hard to believe our friend is married, though :).
I am thankful for… The cooler weather we've been having.
I am wearing... A green Steps for Life t-shirt and jean skirt.
I am reading… The Bible, Come, Let's Reach the World by K. P. Yohannan, and A Young Woman After God's Own Heart by Elizabeth George. I've been checking books off my booklist :)!

One of my favorite things... seeing a God-fearing couple (or family).
For education this week… Writing, reading, drawing, piano, and more.
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … I always use the skill of cleaning the dishes. They never end :).
A spiritual lesson I’m learning… How much I really need to avoid and resist sin...no matter how "tiny" it may seem compared to the "big sins".
A godly character trait I plan to work on… Being gentle (especially in speech)
Scripture I am memorizing… I will be working on a couple verses in Acts and many verses in Romans.
I am praying for… Various people and unreached people groups/countries.
For the rest of the week… Try to get as much done as possible before the summer is over! |

Aug. 3, 2009 A Young Maiden's Daybook #15
| HsKubes' Gal, has (with Miss Peggy's permission) adapted The Simple Woman's Daybook to A Young Maiden's Daybook for us young ladies who are not quite women yet. You can read her orginal post regarding it here.

Today… August 3, 2009
Outside my window… The sun is shining.
I am thinking… of something my dad wisely said. "That is not a success." A woman, who was staying at home with her four little girls (4 yr. old, 3 yr. old, and two 1 1/2 year olds), won the Next Food Network Star challenge. She will now, obviously, be working outside the home instead of being a stay-at-home mom. What will happen to her little ones? Most likely, daycare. Her little ones are much more valuable than any "dream job". Oh, that more women would have the right priorities!
I am thankful for… hands with which to work.
I am wearing... A white shirt and jean skirt.
I am reading… The Bible and Nelson's Illustrated Guide to Religions by James A. Beverley. I hope to read more books from my booklist as well. Oh, yes, and for the first time I am reading Pride and Prejudice :).
I am creating… Drawings, novels, essays, etc. And I am getting back to work on my sadly neglected scarf :).
One of my favorite things... Being industrious
For education this week… Writing, reading, drawing, piano, knitting, and more.
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … Knitting.
A spiritual lesson I’m learning… That I should "never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ!"
A godly character trait I plan to work on… Being slow to anger
Scripture I am memorizing… Several verses in the book of John.
I am praying for… Various people and unreached people groups/countries.
For the rest of the week… I'm really excited. I'm going to a wedding! I'm sixteen and I've never been to one so this should be...educational :). And fun! |

Today… April 20, 2009
Outside my window… It's sunny out.
I am thinking… about Steps for Life 2009! Please pray that a lot of money will be raised to give to the pregnancy center to help mothers choose LIFE! For more information, you can visit my page here: http://www.gifttool.com/athon/MyFundraisingPage?ID=1383&AID=664&PID=67535
I am thankful for… The fact that after months of hoping and praying, we are finally able to upload video from the camcorder to the computer! I can now edit my video footage! I am thrilled. The solution: We completely started our computer from scratch using the recovery discs that came with it. It was not easy but definitely worth it! Thank you so much, Daddy, for fixing it!
I am wearing... A light pink shirt and a jean skirt

A picture I’d like to share... Finally, a couple pictures that I took. These pictures are of a rose my parents gave to me on a day when I stayed at home (while everyone else went grocery shopping) because I wasn't feeling well. (Also, it had been a frustrating and disappointing time because the day before we had worked so hard to film the first part of a three minute movie for the 36 hour Christian film contest but could not upload the video. The problem didn't get fixed until after the contest was over.) It was so sweet and thoughful of my parents to bring me home a rose; I was really surprised!

I am thankful for… being done with formal schooling for tenth grade. It is interesting/funny that I'm just as busy (or more so) now than I was before! For instance, last Wednesday (a week after having finished), I did Bible, story boarding, listened to most of an audio CD (of the 2009 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Academy), read part of Christianity in Crisis by Hank Hanegraff, practiced piano, edited part of my book, watched a World History DVD, and learned Thai. And that's not all :)!

I am wearing… A brown shirt with a blue jacket and a blue jean skirt.

Feb. 22, 2009 A Young Maiden's Daybook #6
| HsKubes' Gal, has (with Miss Peggy's permission) adapted The Simple Woman's Daybook to A Young Maiden's Daybook for us young ladies who are not quite women yet. You can read her orginal post regarding it here.

Today… February 22, 2009 (Yes, I'm doing it in advance :))
Outside my window… The blinds are covering it...it would be dark anyway.
I am thinking… about how precious children are and how there are so many millions of children with no hope in the world...they live in extreme poverty and are often sold into slavery and prostituition. Worst of all, they do not know Jesus. Millions of these children live in India alone. Gospel for Asia is doing something about it. Through Bridge of Hope they are sharing the love of Jesus with the kids of the dalits or "untouchables" while giving them food, clothing, and an education. It only costs $28 a month to sponsor a child and change his or her entire future and share the hope of Christ with not only that child but also his/her family and even the entire community!
I am thankful for… never going hungry.
I am wearing… A black Steps for Life t-shirt and a blue skirt
I am reading… The Bible (2 Samuel right now) and Christianity in Crisis by Hank Hanegraff.
I am creating… GGM assignment(s), short film script, book, etc. You can read my review of Fireproof here.
One of my favorite things… This actually does not qualify as a "thing" but I love children!
For education this week… Bible, Algebra 2, biology, world history, writing, literature, P.E., and Thai. Note: I do seven subjects each day. P.E. and Thai alternate and I have already finished vocabulary which used to alternate with literature. Plus, different things I do that fall into the "fine arts" and "electives" category :)!

Feb. 16, 2009 A Young Maiden's Daybook #5
| HsKubes' Gal, has (with Miss Peggy's permission) adapted The Simple Woman's Daybook to A Young Maiden's Daybook for us young ladies who are not quite women yet. You can read her orginal post regarding it here.

Today… February 16, 2009
Outside my window… The blinds are covering it.
I am thinking… about how much we often take for granted.
I am thankful for… Fireproof arriving today! I hope to see it this evening :)!
I am wearing… A dark red Steps for Life t-shirt that says, "A heart after God begins in the womb", a blue skirt, and a dark red jacket.
I am reading… The Bible (2 Samuel right now) and Christianity in Crisis by Hank Hanegraff.
I am creating… A short film script among other writing projects. My reviews of Heartstrings and The Widow's Might can be found here and here. I hope to post two new reviews sometime this week.
One of my favorite things… Being healthy.
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … knitting.

Feb. 10, 2009 A Young Maiden's Daybook #4
| HsKubes' Gal, has (with Miss Peggy's permission) adapted The Simple Woman's Daybook to A Young Maiden's Daybook for us young ladies who are not quite women yet. You can read her orginal post regarding it here.

Today… February 9, 2009
Outside my window… It's been raining with a little bit of snow mixed in (it's not sticking).
I am thinking… about creation and all the amazing evidence for it and the complete lack of evidence for evolution. On Saturday, I attended the 22nd annual NW Creation Conference (our church gave out free tickets). I will be posting about that very soon.
I am thankful for… God, our Creator! I am so thankful that we are not just blobs of tissue that don't mean anything. Instead, God created man in His image...we are amazingly complex, intelligent human beings!
I am wearing… A black Steps for Life t-shirt that says, "Compassion Saves Lives", a blue skirt, and a dark red jacket.
I am reading… The Bible (2 Samuel right now), GGM, and I hope to start reading Christianity in Crisis by Hank Hanegraff this week.
I am creating… Writing and yes, I will post the reviews for Heartsrings and The Widow's Might very soon. I cannot post a review of Fireproof-for obvious reasons. However, I was able to see a different independent Christian film that was really good; it was entitled, "Between the Walls." I hope to get a review up about that, too!
One of my favorite things… Truth. There is absolute truth. Truth is not "this" for somebody and "that" for somebody else. And we are most certainly not related to bananas...that's the truth!!!

Feb. 2, 2009 A Young Maiden's Daybook #3
| HsKubes' Gal, has (with Miss Peggy's permission) adapted The Simple Woman's Daybook to A Young Maiden's Daybook for us young ladies who are not quite women yet. You can read her orginal post regarding it here.

Today… February 2, 2009
Outside my window… It's sunny out.
I am thinking… that "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9. I thought I would be able to watch Heartstrings, The Widow's Might, and Fireproof last week. I was able to watch the first two and I hope to post my reviews soon. Unfortunately, even though we pre-ordered it a long time ago, we have still not received Fireproof.
I am thankful for… God's amazing grace. I deserve to go to hell. It is by God's grace alone I have been saved. If not for that, I would be in hell for all eternity. God's grace is priceless! Yet, God does not ask for money or anything like that. He asks for you to turn from your sin, believe in Him, and give your life to Him. He is freely offering His grace. Will you make the decision to follow Jesus?
I am wearing… A brown shirt and black velvet skirt.
I am reading… The Bible (1 Samuel right now), Under His Wings by Jon Lewis, and Growing in Grace Magazine's February issue. It's GGM's first anniversary!
I am creating… A letter, reviews, and a lot more writing.
One of my favorite things… receiving letters, comments, and emails.
Also, this Wednesday, I will be participating in the "Kids' Day" at the online Say What You Mean Convention.
A keeper at home skill I am using/learning … knitting.
A spiritual lesson I’m learning… Patience. I really need to learn this! It can be so hard to be patient even regarding small things (such as Fireproof!).
A godly character trait I plan to work on… Gentleness.
Scripture I am memorizing… Ephesians 3
I am praying for… Unreached people groups. And...I am continuing to pray for Tyler Farver and his family. I do not know him personally but I read about his urgent prayer request here: http://www.therebelution.com/blog/2009/01/urgent-pray-for-tyler-farver/ . He was seriously injured in an ATV accident last Saturday, was airlifted to the hospital, and underwent emergency surgery. To read more, including updates, please click on the above link.
For the rest of the week… Writing, reading, schoolwork, piano, Say What You Mean Convention, etc. I also hope to watch Fireproof!
A picture I’d like to share... My mom took this picture recently. You can read the story behind it here.

A spiritual lesson I’m learning… Patience.
A godly character trait I plan to work on… Gentleness.
Scripture I am memorizing… I will begin memorizing Ephesians 2 tomorrow.
I am praying for… I am continuing to pray for Tyler Farver and his family. I am going to write a review of each one and will post them on here when I get the chance.
