5 Great things about Easter!

Does anyone like Easter? I have to admit that I sometimes get a little sick with the whole chicken and rabbit and egg hunt thing, but I think that it's a cute thing for the little one's!

I think that Easter is a very sacred and meaningful day, I also think that everyone should stop and take a moment on Good Friday (Today) and bask in the holiness, and wonderfulness of what the Savior did for us. I believe everyone should respect the greatness and powerfulness that the Lord washed away our sins, for what happend this day 2000 years ago.

I thought I'd list a few things that's great about Easter, besides the chickens and egg hunts and rabbits!

  1. I think this is the most obvius and wonderful one, that the Savior died and washed away our sins, if we only believe.
  2. Easter is a great time to go around sharing the gospel and having great fellowship with your friends and family.
  3. Has anyone seen The Passion? Okay, now I started watching it last Easter and got a little freaked out and had to go to bed, but from what I've heard it makes a great tradition, my parents watch it every Easter or Good Friday.
  4. It's a great time to read the Easter story!
  5. Easter also is a great time for YOU to come to know the Lord God, and have better personal relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior!

I hope you ALL have a great time hunting for eggs and dieing eggs, but remember the real meaning of Easter!

37And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed his last.38Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.39So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, "Truly this Man was the Son of God!" Mark 15:37-39

I agree, Sis! So does this mean we can skip the egg hunt this afternoon? Just kidding.... We need to adjust our focus everyday. Everyday should be a celebration of our risen Lord!

Hi

I am also sick of the Easter thing. I really like celebrating Jesus as the fulfillment as the passover lamb. However, it sickens me to see the church chase after the Godess of Fertility. I guess some perspectives feel like it is okay to add a little compromise because they also add in the Christian focus. However, I feel this teaches our children that compromise is okay, if you do it in small amounts. My concern is that the scriputre says a little bit of yeast ......If I strive to get all compromise out of my life and live that way, I am hoping my children will also choose to live that way so as to be pleaseing to the Lord. Anyway, I could relate to your post about being sick of the Easter egg thing (although my computer could only read half of it...hopefully I am understanding it correctly). God bless you on this resurrection celebration and focus this weekend.
