Daffodilly

My sister, Daffodilly, lives in Iowa (land of many barns), and we talk every day by phone. I told her I was blogging and she made a trip to her neighbor's house to see it for herself. She homeschools, too, so we have been each other's main support group. I have not been at peace with having many outside activities until I get the homeschooling better organized and the housework managed better. We had a big change when my three older daughters made the shift to being gone to work and school, then one went away to school, one married and moved to another state, and the third is gone all day to work and school. We are now learning all over again how to assign chores, keep the laundry up, use our time productively and have meals ready regularly. My older four are all graduated from homeschool. I had a space of eight years between the younger of the four and the older of the next five. For a few years, the older ones did the laundry, cooked, cleaned, kept up the correspondence, and kept our lives busy. (all on their own initiative). Then, suddenly it was back to training the younger ones how to do all of those things, and realizing there was a lot more to do with a lot less help. A lot of things I had begun to do I have had to put away, like needlework projects, writing, etc. It's okay, though as I realize my magnum opus will be the children and not anything temporal that I create with my hands. ( I was inspired by Charlotte, of Charlotte's Web, to consider my children
as such). I realize the blog is only a part time hobby, as well, so I am doing it for fun, but my entries will probably be sporadic.

Sat by the brook with my Savior

I sat by the brook with my Savior, one weekend not long ago.
He spoke in a peaceful whisper, "Rest a while before you go.
Look on this scene I've created, cherish the colors and calm,
Treasure the time spent resting, refreshing your soul like a balm."

This beautiful scene ministered to my soul, one weekend on a retreat somewhere in Virginia. I wanted to share it with my sisters, and friends.
I've been homeschooling for nearly 20 years, and sometimes feel a bit
strung out.  But on this weekend, I felt refreshed as I simply gazed on beautiful scenery, meditating on the genius and kindness of my Beautiful Savior, and knowing that was all he wanted me to do for a day or two.

Little Lambs are Leading Me

My little lambs are leading me by helping me to set up my blog. They are showing me how to edit my pictures, change my settings, and come up with names for my blog that aren't "bo-o-oring".
Today we got out the Christmas decorations, tested the tree lights, and in the midst of it all, I decided to set up a blog. My typical MO. No wonder one of my favorite books is If You Give a Moose a Muffin.
