Oct. 20, 2007 - Fall Frenzies
Life is a little hectic at the moment. Heather has reached her toddlerhood exploration stage. It is not unusual to find her on top of a chair or table with crayon/marker in hand. Given any oppertunity, she will exit the house and run over next door to grandma's (once, under supervision, we just watched to see what she would do - she went over to grandma's, played with a shape sorter, after a while looked up and got up, headed back to the door (so grandma opened it) and came back home. Well, at least she'll come back home!)
So life has been rather interesting with the necessity of constant supervision. I didn't remember it being so hard before, and then I remembered that the older kids have no older siblings to leave the door open, or markers out, etc.
This week we did not get much 'scheduled schooling' in - if you even want to call it scheduled! This week has been full of activities... We had our geography co-op meet, and I covered Italy. It's a little hard to keep the attention of 14 kids ranging from 4-8 (especially with a Heather who was trying to climb up on everything), but I think overall it went rather well. We also had Blue Knights this week and Children's Museum classes as well! I can't wait to actually maybe be home for an entire day sometime next week!!
We finsihed reading The Little Prince, and Caleb picked out 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne as the next read-aloud. He seemed captivated by it - we have onle read through the fourth chapter. We are still working through the book Wright Brother's for Kids. I am liking this series, and really am resisting buying them all just to complete the set! What great Unit Study material! I think we will work through one at a time along with whatever else we are using. If you are looking for something, check these out on amazon.
