• 4.10.2009 - Baby C's birth story. :)

Posted in Homelife

On Saturday (March 28th) we headed over to our house we are selling (sold as of Friday!) to load up some heavy things with a friend of ours - I didn't do any loading. When we returned home and I was getting lunch ready for the children I started getting consistent lower back pain every 4 minutes. David was timing them, I was dismissing them until he told me they were consistent! So after I got the kids lunch, I started gathering our hospital items and David called our friend Megan. Megan hurried over as fast as she could and David and I took off to the hospital which is 40 minutes away. My contractions did not stay consistent on the ride to the hospital, I was scared they were going to turn me away! We parked and when we were checking in the contractions came back! We were checked-in and shown to our room and I changed and was checked and I was at a '6', the day before I was at a ' 4-5' so we were staying! We checked into the hospital around 3:20 in the afternoon. After they put the monitors on me we walked around for awhile to let gravity do it's thing. My contractions were pretty easy on me, except I had back pain with each one - not so fun! After we walked around for a bit we came back to the room and I sat on the birthing ball - that was nice. My contractions were starting to get harder and more intense and I wanted to try the bath tub. I got in the bath and I am so glad I did, that is when I went through the transition phase. I started feeling pressure so I got out and got on the bed to be checked and I was at a '8',  the doctor was paged and I started pushing about 5 mintues later! I pushed through about 3 contractions and she was here! I prayed with each contraction that the Lord would have His hand on me and the baby, and He did. I prayed for strength and courage - at times I did get scared and nervous, but He was with me. And through transistion I prayed He would bring that baby down! I felt his presence throughout the whole process.

She is just beautiful. I was so happy to be holding her in my arms and snuggling with her at last!

I am so happy I went the all natural route. I am never being induced again! It was amazing the difference between a pitocin contraction and a natural contraction!  The natural birth was just so natural. I don't know if I can explain it.

Sounds like it went great! Were you induced with all four of the kiddos? My contractions were actually easy on me too! :) So happy all went well and #5 got here safe and sound! (and she came on Ellie's 4 month birthday!)
