Getting Serious...

Posted in Daily Ramblings
...about de-cluttering, that is.  Well, for our moving sale, anyway.  We are going to try to have our moving sale this weekend.  But, the weather in the forecast for Friday and Saturday does not look good, so we are praying for a change in weather.  In the last couple of days, I've got my kitchen, pantry, mudroom, foyer, dining room, and living room completely combed-through, de-cluttered, and re-organized.  I even managed to vacuum the floors tonight before the boys went to bed.  It's definitely feeling pretty nice in here.

Tomorrow, I will work in our upstairs rooms.  I should be able to get those done in one day, since there's not much to cover.  If hubby's off from work (still not sure, I haven't talked to him yet), he will tackle the basement (that's the biggest clutter spot right now.  Then, together we will do the front porch, where we have begun collecting things that we have packed and are moving with us, but we don't need right now.  God willing, this house is going to lose some serious weight this weekend.

In other news, I got a Moby wrap a week or two ago and it is working out *really* well...I REALLY love it, and Isaac is starting to as well.  Today was the first time he fell asleep in it, and it was nice just being able to do things without his fussing all afternoon.  Now, I cannot wait to take the boys to the park!  Who'd have thought I'd be saying that with 3 of them?!  Ah, they're good boys!  Anyway, this is my third baby, but the first one that I've "worn."  Why did I not start this sooner?!?!?!

Love,
Lisa

Finishing up first grade

Posted in Daily Ramblings
Well, tomorrow is the first of the last four days of first grade for Vincent.  He has done so well this year, and we have had so much fun!  He has especially seemed to pick up his reading lately.  We will take a few weeks off, and hopefully will be able to start second grade the last Tuesday of August.  We still have to order Adventures from My Father's World, just waiting for enough funds to come in.  :-)  If we start a little late, no big deal...that's one of the many benefits of homeschooling.  :-)

On the homefront, I am trying to get de-cluttered and organized.  On Friday, I started with the easiest room, the bathroom.  LOL!  Now I am finishing up taking inventory of all our food so I can go through and make menus.  We have sooo much food here, we shouldn't have to go grocery shopping for weeks (except for milk and fruit and such) if I do it right.  This should 1) free up some space around the house, 2) save us a TON of money (we've been eating out and eating convenience food way too much lately), and 3) help me how to learn to cook more from scratch and learn to use what I have.  I want to learn to make as much from scratch as possible.  Out of snacks?  Well, I'm going to have to make some.  Don't have a certain ingredient for a recipe?  Well, is it something I can make from something I do have?

A lot of this comes from the fact that lately, I haven't been a very good steward of dh's hard-earned money.  And he never (okay, hardly ever LOL) complains.  I just see so many things I can be making/doing (or learning to do!) myself that we are spending money on unnecessarily.

And I hope to be on here a little more regularly again.  I have missed reading all the wonderful blogs here at HSB!  I hope everyone is ready and well-rested for Monday!

Love,
Lisa

What's going on with me...

Posted in Daily Ramblings
Check out this post on my other blog:  http://www.homesteadblogger.com/lisa062797/33456/A+tough+couple+of+months....html

Because of what has been going on, we have taken a brief break from homeschooling, but I plan to try to resume next week.  We have about 4 weeks of K left, so Vincent is still way ahead anyway.  Then, until I can afford to purchase the first grade curriculum from My Father's World, I will be using some of the wonderful resources at AO.

Lots of smiles!

Posted in Daily Ramblings
Oh, how I adore baby smiles .  Andrew smiled for the first time at a little over 4 weeks old, but now, he's doing it all the time!  As long as he's not cranky, I can usually get him to smile whenever I want him to, and I absolutely love it!  He even makes happy noises along with his smiles.  It totally melts my heart every time he looks into my eyes and his mouth opens in the biggest smile I have ever seen.  *Happy sigh*

Short Baby Update

Posted in Daily Ramblings
I'm still not online too much, but I thought I'd jump on and give an update after yesterday's doctor's appointment (yes, I did make it ), as well as catch up on some blog reading .

Since we did make it to the appointment, I fully expected to be scheduling a c-section for today.  But this little stinker just does not want to come out .  His non-stress test came out perfect, and I am now dilated to 4 cm, so my doctor wants to hold out one more week, since he thinks something will happen very soon.  He told me not too many women walk around at 4 cm for very long.  If I go into labor by the end of the day today, I can still leave the hospital on Christmas Eve...knowing this baby, I will go into labor Saturday morning and have him just before midnight Christmas day or something like that LOL.

Gosh, I remember when I was in labor with my Vincent.  My water broke at 1:30 in the morning and by the time we got to the hospital I was dilated to 3 cm, after being 2 cm for the last 2 weeks.  It took until around 3 that afternoon to get to 4 cm, and by that time I was asking for an epidural .  Now, I AM at 4 cm, and I keep wondering if the contractions I feel are "real" or not LOL.  My, oh, my...I know they say each pregnancy can be different, but with these two...I'm wondering how much more different it can get!

If I don't get back on with an update before Sunday, I want to wish you all a very blessed Christmas!

Lisa
