A Little Peek Into the Easterling Home EDventure

Aug. 4, 2005

Email

I got an email today from my 19-year-old homeschooled-throughout college-freshman son...

There are many doors that I may be passing through on my own and with my wife as life starts to change, Mama.  But there are still so many that are open to the both of us, to walk through and share together, just like always.

The only reason you are able to leave me at the door is because you and Dad got me there in the first place, with the confidence to know that I could make past the door and onward.

So for the doors that we can pass through together, and also the ones I may have to face without you, I thank you for getting me to a place where I know I can make it, not without you, but thanks to you.

I love you...
I dabbed at my eyes and emailed him back to tell him I can't imagine a more precious blessing than being his mama.

That has to be one of the sweetest notes I've ever read from a child to a parent. I'm copying that as a reminder of my mother-role - to get them to the door and enable them to successfully walk through it. *Sniff. Sniff.*

Your heart must be so filled with love and gratification. He sounds like such a grounded, level-headed young man. I hope my daughters meet someone like him someday.

Thanks for you comments about Jessica...Did you see that in the TOS Summer issue or did you read something somewhere else? She would be 20 years old this coming October...can't believe it.

Blessings from Ohio, Kim Wolf<><

That is such a wonderful email! What a blessing to have a son like this! I hope that I can offer my children the same freedom and wisdom as you have. My husband's mother was wonderful, too. She was always there with advice and help if we ever needed it! What a blessing godly mothers are! Congratulations!
