Joyful Days at Home

Jan. 19, 2006

I guess I'm going to have to change the name of my blog!

Announcing....... Samuel David Harvey!

Birthdate: Thursday, January 12, 2006, 7:26 a.m.

Weight: 9 lbs

Length: 21 1/2 in.

It's a Boy!

I think I am still in shock, somehow, after three girls, I didn't really ever think that I would have a boy. It is so thrilling. He is so sweet!

I only  had a couple of neutral looking sleepers for him, and all of the pink stuff from my  girls, so my mom went on a blue shopping spree. The little blue outfits are so cute.

Everything went well with the birth. It was a home birth with a wonderful midwife and her assistant, along with my mother , who is a doula. A two hour labor, with the last hour pretty intense. The only thing that I am not thrilled with is that my husband was not there for the birth. I went to my mom's house in Utah, as there aren't any midwives to do home births around here. When we decided that we knew it was very unlikely he would make it. My last labor was also 2 hrs, and it is a three hour drive. But daddy was able to see him when he was a few hours old.

The girls are loving their little brother, maybe a little too much. The poor little guy is constantly surrounding by prodding,  poking children. No jealousy yet shown from my 17 month old, she is so excited. Everytime she sees the babe her eyes light up and she says, "baybay", it is so cute.

I think we will be waiting until February to start any formal shcool schedule. Get our life schedule going first.

Now to come up with a new name for my blog. Hmmm.

How exciting for you! My little brother's name is Samuel David Holland (http://www.samueldavid.net) and I have a friend whose son is named Samuel David Howard. And then you've got Samuel David Harvey. That is too funny. So many Samuel David H's!
Hope you are getting enough rest. Take care!

A boy! How wonderful. I happen to have three boys and then a girl. I, like you, wasn't sure we could produce anything besides boys. I wish I had a bunch of boy stuff to send you. My aunt might still have a lot of hers if you need anything. Let me know. You could probably pay for the postage and have tons of wonderful things.
What will you name him?
How 'bout Three Princesses and a Prince for your blog name?
Mine is Three Knights and an Princess....
Have fun deciding...

We had the same suprise about a year ago when, after 3 girls we had a baby boy! Everyone assumed we were "trying" for a boy, when really we felt a tad unprepared, and well, just stunned! I mean, we were quite accustomed to girls, lol. Then this little BOY comes needing BLUE outfits and blankets! We also knew we'd need to change our school name, as we'd assumed we'd have all girls and named it "Sheltered Rose Pathway." Um, that wasn't going to work for a co-ed school. Hee hee.

But those little blue outfits are adorable (I really like overalls!), and those little boys are SO sweet!

CONGRATULATIONS on adding a wee prince to your family of princesses!

WELCOME little Samuel! Congratulations to you and your dh. (And congratulations to your daughters on a brother to snuggle and love!)

CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS! CONGRATULATIONS

How wonderful! I remember how excited I was when my fifth was finally a *girl*! Happy blue clothes shopping and painting and purchasing to you. I hope you're getting some rest. Remember to stay in your robe for at least the first 3 weeks, and stay home for six! I used to run right out to church and everywhere, thinking I was superwoman . . .and then I realized that NO ONE CARED! LOL Actually most women were bugged at me for being out and around and "making them look bad", which I'd never even considered trying to do. For the last two I've so enjoyed cocooning for six weeks!

Blessings to you. Enjoy your babymoon!
