More books

Posted in School

SOTW came in last week, it is really nice. The girls really like it. I think there might be something to the classical approach once they start reading on their own some more. We got 2 science books in too; they can't wait to do them. They are hands on type so they are looking forward to that, but then so am I too. Course I got Breanna a math book and she got 100% on the end of book review before we did the book, so she is waiting on her next level book to come in. I have learned my lesson, from now on get 2 math books at a time. Katelyn uses Miquon and Breanna uses Developmental math, course they have to use different courses too. Breanna just did not like the rods at all, so no point using a Rod based math for her.

Still waiting to move again, looks like another holiday away from my husband.

I've always wondered about the rods. Not sure if DJ would do well with them -- or if I would be comfortable with them at all! Unfortunately, monetary resources are limited, so I have to be very choosy with what I get.

But I am glad you got some new books in. I'll be ordering the secon part of the Singapore Math book for DJ after the first of the year, I suppose~

They are easy to use, the the program really isn't very costly at all.
I got the rods at Timberdoodle, books too. They have good prices. The books are 5-6$ each, the teachers book isn't that much and there is only one for all 6 books. Which is a hugh hel, since so many have teachers book for each level.
