Taking Time to Smell My Childrens Flowers

• Jul. 3, 2009 - 2009-2010 Here We Come!!!!!! Ready or Not!!!

For the 2009-2010 school year Dear Son and I will be doing My Father's World curriculum. We were so unsure as to what to do this year.  Dear Daughter is growing up and doesn't enjoy one on one teaching anymore.  This last year she really pulled away from it.  She asked me if I could make out a list of what needed to be done and if she could just do it on her own.  I agreed and she did remarkably well.  She really did seem ready to venture out on her own.  I did continue with read alouds with her.  I didn't want to give up all of our time together.  I also plan on cooking with her more often.  It's her least favorite thing to do.
She has asked to do more work on her own so this coming year she will be signed up with the Academy of Home Education.  She has requested it even though we informed her it looks like a LOT of work!
Back to the topic of Dear Son; in his curriculum he will be doing Rome to the Reformation.  He is SO EXCITED!  He loves medeival times and we've never really focused on the studies of them.  We did buy the deluxe package.  (He has already broke into the CD on Beethovan.  He loved it!!!)  I really think he's ready for it.  If you ever decide to buy this curriculum, be sure to make sure you have all you need.  I noticed when purchasing that they expect you to have some books from the year before.  Well, we didn't do this curruculum last year so we had to purchase additional books.  I will continue posting on it and our other works we do.  Keep us in your prayers especially now that we officially will have a homeschooler in high school.

For Today, Wednesday,  July 1st, 2009

Outside My Window
... Sunny skies. It's definitely warmer this week. It's starting to feel like summer.  I'm not too fond of the heat but I'm thankful for clouds in the afternoon.

I'm thinking...I'm typing this on Wednesday instead of Monday.

From the learning rooms...
trying to clean the learning rooms.

I am thankful for... A healthy pregnancy and healthy children.

From the kitchen...

M - leftovers
T - meatloaf and potato salad
W - pork roast
TH -  chicken salad
F -  pork roast sandwiches

I am wearing...   blue shirt, jean shorts and barefoot

I am studying...
I'm in a Women Mentoring Women class.  It's every Monday night.

I am hoping...  to get all of our school stuff completely figured out.  I still need to order a few things.

I am creating...
a cleaner house for our foreign exchange student from Germany.  She will be visiting us in a week and a half.  She'll only be here for 2 weeks.

I am hearing... Computer hum

Around the house and garden...  More zucchini but sadly no tomatoes, yet.
Right now I'm cleaning the house and organizing a lot!  I want our foreign exchange student to not have any trouble finding things around the house.

One of my favorite things...
Teaching my children.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
Take Dear Son to the eye doctor to see if his eyes are okay.  Clean the house and do my bible study.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
The kids at the Botanicle Gardens this summer.  The flowers there were AMAZING!

• Jun. 23, 2009 - God Knows Best!!!

I've noticed that one of my blog friends is saying that the weather forecasters don't always predict the weather right.  I agree because  earlier this year I went to the bookstore and considered buying a farmers almanac for my garden.  I chose not to when I saw all the extra junk in it like horoscopes and such.  I wondered if it was wrong to use the book to predict the weather patterns.  Not being sure I just took a peak at it and noticed that it said that we would have an unusually dry hot summer.  I was so bummed and decided to pray and ask God what I should do.  I ended up feeling at peace about planting the garden.  So I did!  This year we have had much more rain than usual and still haven't reached our usual highs.  Finally today we might hit 90.  Most of the time it's been in the 70's!  This last month we had 16 days of rain.  That is very rare for our area!  God is so good.  He is the best weather forecaster out there.

For Today, Monday,  June 22nd, 2009

Outside My Window
... Sunny skies.  It's in the 80's and starting to feel a little like summer.  This month we have had 16 days rain, total.  That's not normal for the desert.  I'm loving it!!!

I'm thinking...I need to water the garden.  It's too hot to water now.  I hope I can get to it soon.

From the learning rooms...
Currently we're not doing much other than gardening.  Dear son is going to VBS this week and learning all about Rome.  Which is really awesome since our coming school year is going to be started off in Rome.

I am thankful for... Healthy children.

From the kitchen...

M - grilled cheese sandwiches
T - chicken and rice
W - hamburgers
TH - enchiladas
F - left overs - may be a movie night- lots of popcorn!

I am wearing...   brown shirt, jean shorts and bare feet

I am studying...
I'm in a Women Mentoring Women class.  It's every Monday night.  I just finished my homework, woo hoo!!!

I am hoping...  to get all of our school stuff completely figured out.  I still need to order a few things.

I am creating...
not much of anything.  I don't have much time for creating, right now.

I am hearing... Our Chinese Pug, Joey lapping water.  The hum of the computer and the air conditioner.

Around the house and garden...  We've eaten zuchini twice for dinner now.  I already have some more I need to go cut.  I hope the family doesn't get too tired of them!

One of my favorite things...
Teaching my children.

A few plans for the rest of the week...
Take Dear son to VBS all week.  Take daughter to the store for some clothes shopping and go to the library.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
This flower is on a plant at our Botanicle Gardens in Albuquerque.  It is common to see these here.  Several of our neighbors have these trimmed into a tree.  I looked them up and found out that if the flower is eaten it can poison you or your animals and therefore we don't have any.  It is called a Bird of Paridise.

Hello fellow bloggers!!!
I'm going to be away from the computer for a couple of days.  (unless I can get my laptop to work)
We're going to Colorado to see my grandma before she moves to Iowa.  Iowa will be so much farther away and much harder to go visit.
Please don't forget about me while I'm gone.
I'll be thinking of all of you and taking pictures.  May be I'll get a chance when I get back to post some!

God bless all of you!!!!

• Jun. 17, 2009 - new news!!!

Hello to all of my fellow bloggers!!!!

I've been so busy the last few months.  Just in the moment I think I'm going to get some time to blog and read my friends blogs, something new in my life pops up!  Not that I mind new things, but I sure do love to read my friends blogs!   I have grown to feel like their my extended family.  It is so encouraging to read about and see pictures of everyone's beautiful children.
Well my newest news is..........
Are you ready for this?  Drum roll please!!!!
I'm pregnant.  What a blessing from God.  I'm currently 7 weeks along.  I have my ups and downs but boy oh boy, was I ever sick!  I've been laid out with flu symptoms for a while now.  Since my symptoms were so severe and then seemed to tailor off, I called up the doctor and they gave me a blood check.  They checked my hormone levels and they have been going up tremendously!  Praise God!!!  So please, please pray for me and the baby!  We could use all the prayers willing to go out!  While your at it, thank God in the process :0)
