Becoming a Heaven on Earth

Home can be a heav'n on earth when we are filled with love

Bringing happiness and joy, rich blessings from above-

Warmth and kindness, charity, safety and security-

Making home a part of heaven, where we want to be.

Drawing fam'ly near each week, we'll keep love burning bright.

Serving Him with cheerful hearts, we'll grow in truth and light.

Parents teach and lead the way, children honor and obey,

Reaching for our home in heaven, where we want to stay.

Praying daily in our home, we'll feel His love divine;

Searching scriptures faithfully, we'll nourish heart and mind.

Singing hymns of thanks, we'll say, "Father, help us find the way

Leading to our home in heaven, where we long to stay."

~ LDS Hymn #298

Cool Thoughts on Food

My thoughts at 09:07 AM, June 4, 2008

To Your Health

I heard this a few yrs ago at a homeschool conference in Idaho Falls (they don't do the conference anymore - isn't that sad?).  I thought it was facinating, but I didn't have all the foods written down.  There are more than this - maybe if you're interested you might look it up and see what else they've come up with.  :)  This was in an email from my friend Dawn - Thanks!!!
You are what you eat, so eat well. A stupendous insight of civilizations past has now been confirmed by today's investigative, nutritional sciences. They have shown that what was once called 'The Doctr
ine of Signatures' was astoundingly correct. It now contends that every whole food has a pattern that resembles a body organ or physiological function and that this pattern acts as a signal or sign as to the benefit the food provides the eater. Here is just a short list of examples of Whole Food Signatures.

A sliced Carrot looks like the human ey e. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and science shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebru ms and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over 3 dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Eggplant, Avocadoes and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? .... It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the motility of male sperm and increase the numbers
of sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries.

Grapefruits, Oranges, and
other citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like body cells. Today's research shows that onions help clear waste ma terials from all of the body cells They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.

'The news isn't that
fruits and vegetables are good for you, it's that they are so good for you, they can save your life .' David Bjerklie, TIME Magazine, Oct. 2007

Slow and Steady

My thoughts at 08:33 AM, March 26, 2008

To Your Health

I have started telling myself, over and over, "Slow and Steady wins the race."

I don't know if I believe that ALWAYS, as I know sometimes success in life comes to those who see an opportunity and jump on it.  But when it comes to my health, I have become more and more aware of how much it is line upon line, precept upon precept.

My bioengineerist yesterday introduced me to miasms.  I had never heard of them before.  He gave me a homeopathic mix to help with it - so I went home and have started looking it up - I just told myself it is time to step away from the computer - I am overwhelmed with information and not really understanding what to do about it.  Although, I have already taken the first step by taking what he gave me.

I know this has to do with generational stuff that I'm dealing with, but just not sure how it all fits together yet.  And how do these things effect kids?  What about my nephew, who has been around various people in his young life - does he take on ours, or everyone's, or just my sister and her sperm donor's generational challenges?  So many questions....

But I have things to do, kids to educate, books to prepare for sending, etc.  This is where I am in the research department today.  I'll get there - slow and steadily.

Homemade Cough Syrup Remedy

My thoughts at 01:56 PM, October 22, 2007

To Your Health

I normally don't post two posts on the same day, but I have to share this.  My friend from back home had told me about this years ago and I had filed it away in the back of my mind.  Athena and Orion have been sick with a really bad cough for a week and a half now.  Athena hasn't felt like doing schoolwork, and poor Orion has been walking around with purple eyes from lack of sleep.  We tried cough medicines, vaporizers.. everything we could think of.  Still bad coughs.

So I contacted my friend through my mom and she sent me her formula for this cough syrup, and IT WORKED!  I gave a tsp. to Orion, and he's hardly coughed at all.  Athena when she took a TBSP within min she said "That WORKS".  So, I pass on this wonderfully inexpensive, healthy, easy cough syrup to you.  Ready?

Take and onion.  Slice it up in thin strips and put in a pan or cookie sheet (make sure it has sides) - pour honey over it.  Let it sit overnight.  Remove the onion and give the "juice" as a cough syrup.  Good news is, you can't overdose - but as my friend says, it's not great on the breath freshner charts!  lol!  How this works is the honey pulls out the enzymes of the onion, and honey itself is antibacterial - which is why if you smear it on your face an leave it for a few min. it leaves your skin incredibly soft.  Trust me, I've done that too.

It works!

My "Doctor's" Visit

My thoughts at 09:43 AM, August 23, 2007

To Your Health

I finally headed out to the natuopath on Tuesday.   Oops, let me back up a sec.

First I went to the chiropractor for the results of my xrays.  Turns out I am in the first stages of arthitus and in phase one of some degenerative condition that is very serious in the neck.  Had I not caught it this early on, I would have formed bone spurs and eventually my vertebrate would have fused together.  This is what has been causing me all the pain in my shoulders, arms, and hands.  He said this could be part of what is wrond with my back as well, although we both know I have sciatica issues.  But he isn't as concerned about that as he is my neck - so this is what we're treating first.  Besides adjustments and therapy there in the office, I have a special pillow I have to use 20 min a day, plus excercises.

Then I headed over to the natuopath (forgive me - I know I'm botching the spelling, but I'm in a hurry).  This is a little different than being muscle tested or reflexology.  He has this computer that is attached to these little pads you put your hands on, and the energy they send into you hands travels to the different organs in your body and he can tell you exactly what is going on.  This has been used for years by NASA  to test astronuats before and after their flights to space.

So I went in and we did this, and he told me several things that I already knew, or suspected, but he said that the intuitive part of my brain was highly developed, so that was not surprising that I would know these things.  There were a few things I didn't know or suspect, like I have a staph infection still in my body that I'm constantly trying to fight off.  Must be leftver from that uterine infectine I had after the twins were born.

Anyway, when all was said and done, then we talked over the most important things to do to start turning me around to good health.  You can start out working on a few things, or you can work on alot.  I chose to work on quite a few things at once, because I am sick of being in pain and having periods of fog in my brain.  Here is what I'm working on:

I am deficent in Lithium & Serotonin - this accounts for my massive headaches and all the crying I do

My thyroid of course.  However, it was nice to hear that it was still functioning, that it was far from dead, which is what the doctor would have me believe.  He said it shouldn't take much to get that to rights.  I'd like to think that's due to the work I've put into it already.  :)

Working on detoxing the staph infection.

I'm taking something to strengthen the tissues around my heart - they have been weakened, which accounts for the chest pains.

Ahhh,  and then crappy CANDIDIA.  lol - those of you who  struggle with this know exactly what I am talking about.  That candidia is a bugger - and we are attacking it with a vengence.  hehe

I asked him if I needed to do any special dietary things - he looked at me and said, "You are already overwhelmed right now - I can see that by this part of your brain.  Let's get you working on these things and we will talk dietary later.  Besides, your thyroid dyfunction is causing your allergies, and your diet isn't all that bad right now, so just keep doing what is working for you and we'll talk diet later."

Isn't that crazy that he can tell those things by llooking into the brain?  He could also tell I read lots of books and that I write alot.  He said there wasn't anything wrong with me that we hadn't caught early and could turn around, which was music to my ears.  I got a blessing last night, and I know that everything will be okay.

I 'm not discounting muscle testing.  My mentor and I knew I needed some minerals - we just couldn't figure out which ones.  Oh, I also need magnesium and potassium, and a digestive enzyme because I have nothing to help me digest anymore, which is why sometimes my stomach feels like someone stuck a hot poker into it.  LOL - he looked in my brain and said, "You have a VERY high pain threshold."  I just laughed!  Because yes, I do!  Anyway, I chose to spend the money and find out everything that was wrong because I knew I was missing some pieces of the puzzle.  I tested every product he gave me - and my tested tested YES on every single one of them.  So with blessings from my body, this is what I'm doing.  I return in 6 wks.

Oh - cost.  Cost was $60 for the reading, then you have to add in the cost of all the herbs and homeopathics that you need to work on those things you find.  My total cost was $228.00.  But when I look at what was down the road for me - a heart attack in 4-6 years or maybe sooner, my life in a fog, depression, living with migraines, and other possible organ dysfunctions (because there are other weakened areas of my body too)...  I would have spent gobs of money in the doctors offices, pharmacies, and even the hospital - all at a very young age.  My kids need me.  My husband needs me.  I'm not done here yet - I'm so glad I was led to this option!

My Beef with the Medical World

My thoughts at 11:02 AM, August 17, 2007

To Your Health

I have just been on the phone all morning trying to get Redbeard seen by a doctor - he's very sick, and wants to see one.  I wouldn't bother - they're just going to tell him he has a virus and to "let it run it's course" - I know all about doctors now.  *ROLLS EYES*

Can you believe every doctor I called either said, "We're not accepting new patients now" or "We won't see new patients until Sept 26th".  So what are you supposed to do in the meantime?  And are you supposed to go in when you AREN'T sick so that you're on the list when you are?  At least there is Urgent care listed that he can go to......

ARGH!!!!!  The whole doctor thing has ticked me off for years - even more now than ever.  Everyone was "so excited" for us because Redbeard had insurance included with his job - well, at least we aren't paying for this crap.  That's IS a bonus.

I am headed up to a town 45 min away to see a naturaopath (SP?) that works over the entire body on Tuesday.  My mom called me yesterday and told me that in Texas they have made it so the Kinesologists (sp) can't test anyone anymore, starting next month.  This infuriates me - who is the govt. to tell me how to treat my body?  I'm not in Texas right now, but you can bet it will be happening in other states.  What happened to freedom of choice?  And who decided THAT!?  You can also bet that the people didn't know anything about this.

They go too far.  I hope the people in Texas realize and fight back.  We don't need the drugs all the time.  They have their place, but more often not.  If we choose to seek out BETTER ways, then it's OUR choice.  I think there is just too many people seeking the higher road to health and the drug companies are upset because they are loosing money.  They lost a lifetime user when I refused to go on synthetics for my thyroid.  I stick my tongue at them as I vote against them.  IF I am given the chance to vote.

Okay....  I'll get off my soap box now.
