please guys, i want to know your oppinion.
this has been on my mind for a VERY long time. i dont feel right about the whole thing. i find it as the devils way into the youth of the nation. and people are WILLING and paying for their souls to be opened up to his works.
the thing is, people look at this and say, oh, its not reall, so i am not worried... but the thing is....it IS real and those spells are REAL spells!
i just dont see how we, as christians, can stand back and let all this continue!
tell me what your feeling for the topic is. PLEASE.
BUT, dont argue with me, couse my feeling wont change because i have prayed about it and God has shown me CLEARLY that they are terrible shows.
but i kno i sound terrible when i just sayed what i did abouve, BUT.....
if you are gunna post a comment that counterflicts what i say, expect another post, or message in return.
so please dont post an oposite oppinion unless you are willing to open up to what i have to say.
and not be so stubborn on YOUR theory.
and i will read yours with care, and who knows... you might just say something that sparks my interest to do some reasearch... more prayer.... and post some more!!! |

| II agree that we should take a look at it. However, we must realize that it is for purely entertainment reasons.A woman shared her fantasy views through a story. While it may make some uncomfortable, others were entertained. It was seen as fantasy, not as a text book. I believe that kids read it as they do Batman, Spiderman, etc. Also what about the witchesd in Wizaed of Oz.I believe that if spells were as real as proclaimed that so many witvhes wouldn't have been put to death in the Salem witch trials.I think we would do better to be more concerned and active about drugs, alcohol, and premarital sex with our youth. Those are the things that are kiling many of our loved ones.I know of many good Christian kids who read the book and they continue to do good works. However, when was the last time you could say the same of an addicted teen? Be concerned, be aware and put your energy to the battles that need you the most. Leena |

Hi. I'm also feeling uncomfortable with these books. However I didn't start becoming uncomfortable until I'd read most of the books, so I finished the series and put them away.
They aren't real spells. They are just latin words. And they all need a 'magic wand' to cast - each of which contains a core like phoenix feather, dragon scale, veela hair - items that are absolutely impossible to replicate in the real world.
HP and his pals live in a world where unicorns and dragons and mermaids are real. It was never intended to be taken as reality.
Also, I have read posts about the book that plainly deceive their readers, knowing that their readers will be too frightened to look it up for themselves. For example, one post quoted the divination teacher as saying that divination is the most wondrous of art forms, saying that it was teaching kids to go learn astrology. However, they forgot to mention that the teacher herself is made out throughout the series to be a huge joke. Her class is the only one Hermione (the bookworm) leaves in disgust, because she recognises that it is trash.
HP magic is not real. But really, I think that's what the danger is - it's in making people think that witchcraft is not real. Witchcraft is real, just not HP witchcraft :) After all, one of Satan's best lies is that he isn't real, isn't it?
But yeah, continue your search. If you are brave enough, (and mature enough in your faith that you won't go and join a coven if tempted) you could try reading the books for yourself. It might seem distasteful but really it's the only way to sort the truth from the lies. |

Harry Potter
I totally agree with you. My dad has taught me and my siblings very sternly on magic. In most movies today (such as Harry Potter) the people in those stories use magic (dark magic) for themselves or to hurt other people. And I believe that demons have a strong hold in those movies and books, unfortunately. But, in movies such as Lord of the Rings, that magic is used for the good of the world, it represents God. I think I said that right, but I'm not sure. But that magic is used to fight evil, which is a great cause. But in Harry Potter movies (and books) they use it for themselves to show that if you have magic, you have power. So, it's kind of self-centered. I think I explained that right... Anyway, I totally agree with that. Unfortunately, demons have a huge hold on the teens of today, and part of that hold is in books and movies.
In Christ,

| You are entitled to your opinion...however it is an ignorant opinion. You admit to not reading the HP books nor watching the HP movies...but only conveying opinions from others. Do you watch Lord of the Rings? Wizard of Oz? Bednobs and Broomsticks? Like these HP is a classic example of the struggle between good and evil. Harry...the good guy...does not use "magic" for his own good. He does however, use it to help others and to fight evil. If your faith is truly as strong as you say it is...then educate yourself...the books can't harm you...the spells are not real. Maybe start thinking about how other things in this world are affecting teens....drugs, alcohol....sex...lyrics in non-Christian songs. |
