Compared to a house or apartment, living in a motor home isn’t much different. We have a bathroom with a shower, a kitchen complete with a refrigerator, stove top, oven and microwave, sleeping space for everyone, internet and satellite TV. About the only thing that’s different other than the obvious size, is that our backyard changes as often as we want or need it to. So, with all the similarities you wouldn’t think that moving into an RV full-time would be much of a learning experience, would it? Guess again. So far, we’ve learned that when they say you should use the thin RV toilet paper, you really should heed the advice. Also, your holding tank really isn’t okay without the chemicals to break everything down, so if you head down the mountain and forget to buy it at Wal-Mart, you should make a special trip back to town. When you leave your camper parked for a couple weeks, after you clean the fridge, you really need to leave the door open or you’ll be welcomed back with a fridge full of mold- although I just learned a tip from the camp hosts regarding just such a thing. Make sure you keep an eye on the systems monitor to see when your holding tanks need dumped. It’s not fun when everything backs up in the shower, which is where we currently store our dirty laundry for lack of a better space. Finally, if your air conditioner stops working on a horribly hot summer day, check your breaker box before you spend hours without the AC. Other than those few challenges, life goes on pretty much just like it did at home. Just one more day…
