A Wonderful Surprise

We were so busy groaning about the thought of driving in Atlanta's traffic that we had no idea that only minutes from out hotel was The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, offering wonderful hiking trails and a welcome break from the hotel.  Having been cooped up in the hotel for the past couple days, except when we had ventured out for groceries and other necessities, we were all eager to stretch our legs.  As always, Boy2 had to exert his boyness and climb on every rock, boulder and tree near the path which resulted in his slipping off a rock and covering his hiney in dirt.  His fall didn't slow him down any, he preceded up the trail with the puppy, leaps and bounds ahead of us.  Boy1 found interesting rocks in the stream so the kids all decided to jump in for a closer inspection.   After some discussion among them, they determined that the sparkly elements in the rock may be quartz.  Where are those field guides when I need them?  You can bet that we'll have them with us on our return visit!
