Apr. 17, 2006 - An Update on our "Farm"

With everything that has been going on with my mom I have not had time to update any of you about our farm. I posted awhile ago that I thougt two of our goats might be pregnant, well they were and they each had on kid!!! :0) I will try really hard to get some pictures up over the next couple of days because they are so very cute. The black mama whose name is Uno had a cute little black and white boy that we named Angelo. The white goat whose name is Dose had a cute little all white baby girl that we named Snookie. I was not here when they were born, but the mamas did great and no outside assistance was needed. They are so very funny, they are starting to run around and play together and they butt their little heads it is so cute!! :0)

I also put in an order today for 30 chicks and 6 ducks. I'm getting 10 Rhode Island Red, 10 Black Sexlinks, 10 Barred Rock, and 6 White Piking ducks. I have never had ducks before, but the kids wanted them and now they must build a place for them before May 22nd.

Over the spring/summer we will be extending our fencing and hopefully we will get a breeding pair of Highland cattle. I really love having the animals and it seems to keep the kids busy too. ;0)

I can't wait to see the pix! Goat kids are so cute and fun to watch! We just had our second batch today, and even the second time around, it's exciting. Like you, this time around we didn't get to see the birth.

We are getting ducklings, too, this week: ten, all different varieties. We have chickens, but my 1G8 wanted some more babies, this the ducklings. Keep us posted!

I hope that you enjoy reading about us and I would love to hear from you and learn about your family too.
