Piney Woods Homeschool

Jun. 22, 2009 - Progress is exceedingly slow

Category • Life n Times

Due to much stress and everyone working, my lovely school plan has not yet manifested.  We did start the work but have failed to finish.  I'm not sure exactly what I will be doing about this especially since it affects everything and everybody.  I'm praying about how to proceed so that all things are covered.

Riley didn't graduate and we didn't go to the homeschool convention in Va.  We did get to go to the Charlotte Mason Conference in NC, that was very good for us.  I'm recharged and energized which is definitely needed right now.  I'm hoping to get her all finished up before Christmas and have her take the ACT & SAT so if she decides to go to school in January she'll be ready but I'm thinking she'll have to wait til next fall.

We all work in retail and have been hit hard financially.  There have been little to no hours which is hard when you are trying to payoff some bills and maintain.  I've recently taken on another part-time job and am considering leaving the retail job but will probably stay through the holidays.  My new job is at the library and will allow me to homeschool in peace and completeness.  Something that I believe we desperately need at the moment.  I start today and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm going to go and complete the 3 things on my to do list.  More later ~ in the life & times of the Excelsior Warriors!

Mar. 27, 2009 - Progress for today

Category • Life n Times

Today was quiet ~ no school. Da Boy decided we needed to start on Monday so we will. I'm not sure who made him the boss but whatever works. I did manage go to the library and print off math sheets and order our books. Yeah me! We will be able to get started on Sunday actually with our devotional. Still prayerfully considering which book to use though I'm leaning toward finishing up Mere Christianity.

Thats all for now ~ more when we get started next week and the books come in.

I'm pleased to say ~ its done. I'm looking forward to learning alongside the kiddos and to spend time reading/researching CM more since I've let it fall by the wayside. Aug. 27, 2008 - Howdy ;)

Category • Life n Times

We're back from a mini-vacation to Branson ~ it was a fun and restful until this morning.  I've been having some issues with eye allergies but that wasn't too bad until dh and I went to a resort sales mtg.  After this meeting, which was not that great, I was nauseous and my eyes hurt and itched.  I'm doing better now but my vision is not 100%.

Kiddos are doing well getting ready for fair work which starts next week.  School will be slow til after the fair.  We will be doing mostly reading ~ I think I'll add a few bios on math and science dudes and dudettes, that will keep things interesting.

Well gotta go at the library and I'm tired.

til next time ~ in the life & times of the Excelsior Warriors!!

May. 30, 2008 - Oh No... Moving Blogs

Category

Oh, now I'm organizing inside & out!!  Inside and out of my blog....

Today I've pondered about scrapbooking.... and blogging... and how to scrapbook my blog.  That would cover my world!!!  Ok, I've checked it out and tried to find options and ideas....  and I want to get rid of my scrapbook circles and needless stuff....

Check out Blog2Print

The idea of making a scrapbook of my blog sounds great!!!  I tried to make a test of this blog but they will not take homeschool blogger...  so they do take google blogger and I tested it on a firend!!!  (Aimee check it out :)...  alas, I'm looking into making the conversion....

Another reason to convert is I'm looking for more options on comments from you guys!!!!  I'd don've have the paramaters to make adjustments here....    I laughed and laughed when asked about how our little bugs did on our trip.... bug who wrote that?????

That's my musing right now!!!  With bookshelves in some order... the sunroom shuffled and more on the shelves... the utility room is in recovery... I'm schooling today... thinking of the grands.... and moving my blog!!!!

May. 28, 2008 - Fruit Box Turnover

Category

I thought I was winning...  The Library was taking shape.  All the years book lining up together.  Hubbie figured our the lighting and it is so cool!  The shelves are amazinly full...

Monday we headed with Daddy back to Ikea.  We studied the bookshelves and this other stoage system...  My defining point was I wanted storage with baskets... so the book shelves were eleminated..  We cam home with the Expidite for the sunroom....

Now, I enjoyed organizing my library... but now I need to organize my whole world...  and I am not winning.  (I think it is easier to move!!)  Projects imagined & supplies acquired only to sit yet in bags stowed away....  capri sun bags, indian dresses, sand & shells for a frame that lacks that good beach pic.... and so much ods and ends...

It would be easier to eleminate it all!!! But that is easier done without being seen.   So now I'm just shuffling.  Fruit box turnover!

Alas, These items are lost in my chaos...

  1. Search the Scriptures-  a great devo taking you thru the entire Bible.  Alas in all my hunt I've not uncovered it.  Now I'm searching every nook & crany.
  2. Homestead Pickerf Folk Songs- I know this is somewhere.. and at one point was even on top.  Now it must be burried.

Praying the God of the Universe brings His order to my chaos!!  Off to seek Him!!  Grace! ss
