two finished bags- Yippee

Posted in Knitting

With Christmas quickly approaching, my time for completing knitted projects is practically non existant so I had to find alternative gifts.  I had wanted to make a bag for my grandma so I found what I thought would be a good sweater to felt down and turn into a bag.  It had already been partially felted (by mstake I'm assuming) and was quite thick as it was.  One trip through the washer yeilded this amazingly thick wonderful tiny sweater just asking to be a simple bag.  A pretty flower embroidered and a pink polka dot lining and it's perfect- I hope my grandma likes it, or I want it back!   Here's the picture of that one:

And since I was on a roll I dug out a cute snowflake sweater that was a bit too itchy (and tight) and washed it up.  It didn't felt as nicely as the white one, but it fit perfectly over the straw bag I bought at the Salvation army for $2!  I need to add some new lining it has red checks now but it's cute.  The snowflake was up a bit too high, but it had to be since that's were the armholes fell, but it'll be for my brotehr's girlfriend if she comes up over Christmas- mine if she doesn't!   So for $3 I got two cute bags! It was a good day!

What a fun way to use an old sweater! We are in NY too and my kids are dying for snow! The most we have had so far was only an inch!!
