Mother's Day
Posted in
Family
I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband and children who made the day extra special for me. First of all everyone came in to snuggle with me when they woke up (the younger three generally do anyway, but my big 8 year old did too yesterday) My six year old told daddy he wanted to bring me breakfast in bed so all of them trouped in with big smiles, each carrying a part of my breakfast, and shouts of "happy mother's day!" After they each handed me what they brought *J* promptly looked at Matt and asked "can I go out now?" Apparently mother's day can't compete with the new to them scooter I found at a garage sale the day before. After breakfast we hung out for a while and they gave me the cards they made and together with Matt they made me a "special box" to keep my treasures they make me in- it even has a slot cut into the top so the children can give me "mail" and each of the children painted a side of the box. It's wonderful- I need to get a picture taken of it. We have a tradition of getting subs from Subway and taking them to the park and then going to the zoo. But after going hiking last weekend I really wanted to do that so we did the subs at the park and then did a trail through the woods. It was lots of fun. Then we headed to the grocery store to pick out some splurges for supper (another tradition) Then as soon as we finished eating dinner we went over to my grandmothers for ice cream cake. Which was nice so I got to see my mom and grandma on Mother's Day. It was a very nice day.
