Dedicated to the Biblical Principle of
Deuteronomy 6:5-8

"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates."

Apr. 21, 2006 - We actually do school around here...
Schooling Adventures

I know with all the talk about sewing and moving it would seem that school never happens around our house.  But we actually only have 4 weeks left in the school year and many subjects are already coming to a close.  Of course there are other subjects we will be finishing up on that last scheduled day!  One of the subject we just love is science.  We use:

Exploring Creation with Astronomy by Jeannie Fulbright

This is an Elementary Science Program from Apologia Science

With all the preparations with the move we got a bit behind.  This week we have been diligant and have been working hard in one of our favorite subjects.  We just finished a chapter on Pluto and the Kuiper Belt.  We talked about how different chemicals effect the freezing temperature of water.  Normal freezing rate is 32 degrees but if you add something the freezing rate can change.  To let the kids get a hands on understanding of this the kids made homemade ice cream.  Here are some pics of the kids finishing up the experiment and enjoying the spoils of the experiemtn.  And believe me Mom did her own bag as well!  What a YUMMY experiment

Ohh I see that you do Apologia! I am going to go with Apologia next year. For some reason this is the first I have heard of it. Thanks so much for this post as I can see the kids are having fun and I love how it ties with a little project. My boys would be all for that!
We had our fifth baby in November and so homeschooling has been at a snail's pass this year, but we are enjoying our time nonetheless. Listening to how everyone is wrapping up is making me feel a little nervous for we need to be ready to test, but I think we will be okay....*sigh*
