Schooling Adventures
I have sat on this blog site for several months now and done nothing with it. It is time to get over myself and just start typing. It's not like this is rocket science. We are in our 25th week of our 6th year of homeschooling (only 11 weeks to go!!!). I would love to say that everything is going wonderful and we are right on schedule as planned. But that wouldn't be exactly true. Close, but not true. Life just got in the way. Actually as former foster parents a major crisis got in the way.
We use Sonlight Core 3 (American History Part 1) as the crux of our curriculum. We also use the Sonlight Language Arts 3 and 3 advanced as well. We are right on target as far as our core goes (Bible, History and Read-Alouds). I have dropped many of the creative writing assignments because we just got behind in math (Horizons 3 & 5) and grammar. Prince T (10) is just about caught up, but Princess C (8) is so far behind I just don't know that she can see daylight. She is probably 10 math and grammar lessons behind! Yikes! I am sure the ongoing story of our blog will be her ability to catch up. She has sensory issues and is easily distracted by pretty much everything. I am trying to keep her focused. I will be sure to keep you up to date. We are about to start an end of the year research project. I will make sure that I stay up to date on that as well. We use Elementary Astronomy from Apologia as our science curriculum and we are LOVING IT!!!! Our family has fallen in love with this science program.
The other challenge is my toddlers. Because we adopted them out of the state foster care system Sir C (3.5) is developmentally delayed and has Sensory Integration Disorder. He has therapy 4 times a week (still trying to get him set up with PT) and since we are trying to catch him up on basics (speech, gross motor and small motor) he is "behind" on many basic toddler learning skills (colors, abc's, counting, singing basic songs) We are making progress but it is hard to see on a day to day basis. our Lady M (2.5) just bumbles along behind Sir C and enjoys life.
I do hope you will check back often. Our lives are quite busy, but we provide many with an unending source of entertainment. We hope that we can entertain you as well. Until we meet again.
