Deuteronomy 6:5-8

"Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates."

Apr. 17, 2007 - Fun with Geocaching
Family Life

"Using Billion Dollar Satalites to Find Tupperware"

I was visiting Mother Hen over at Sweet Life and she posted about Geocaching an adventure our family started back in September.  My My Best Girlfriend! and her family initially got us started when we went camping together.  After some delays, we were finally able to invest in a GPS unit and our family has been treasure hunting ever since.

While there are many educational benefits to Geocaching, there are other benefits as well.  Since we are often hiking to find out hidden treasures we get a good amount of exercise during our Geocaching excursions.  Another benefit is we get to spend the day together outdoors as a family with no television or computer in site.  By far my favorite benefit to Geocaching is seeing our family work together as a team.  While it might seem the adults have the advantage with Geocaching, it is often our children who think outside the box who locate the cache first.  It has been so great to see the kids working together to reach a common goal.

Since the kids have different areas of interest, they often go their separate ways when the school day ends.  Geocaching has given our family an opportunity to come together on common ground.  No one seems to have an advantage and as a result we all have a blast as a family.

Apr. 2, 2007 - hoping to get going with my blog again
Blog Stuff

This has been a crazy year.  I have missed blogging and all my blogging friends.  I haven't been posting or leaving comments, but I have been keeping up with several folks through my RSS reader on my Modzilla Thunderbird.

If you are looking for a great reader I HIGHLY recommend it.  New posts come in like individual emails but it looks like you are looking at the web page.  But the great thing is you can delete the posts once you are done reading them OR you can save them just like an email.  They all download as individual posts into individual folders.  If you have been looking for a way to organize your feeds I really believe this is the way to go.

I am busy finishing up the end of the school year, but at the same time I am enjoying planning next school year.

Anyway, I look forward to being a part of the blogging community again.

Apr. 2, 2007 - Do you deserve your high school diploma quiz?
Quizes and Games

I found this quiz over at Quiet Cajun's blog so I decided to give it a try.  I was very pleased with my results.  Although, I have to admit I bet much of what I knew was more because of homeschooling my children and less about my astute memory.

You paid attention during 91% of high school!

85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

Do you deserve your high school diploma?

Well, Thanks Quiet Cajun for sharing this because it was just the thing to get me back into the blogging groove.

Huge to all!

Aug. 10, 2006 - Long time no blog
Schooling Adventures

Well, I noticed that the tumble weeds were starting to roll through my blog so I thought I better check in or people would start to think I abandoned this place.  Wait, that would insinuate that people besides me actually read this thing!

We started school this week.  It has been a blast.  At the same time of course we started up our school year schedule.  I base my schedule from the wonderful tool Managers of Their Home.  The school week has gone really well.  I was worried how it would all work out teaching two different ages groups.  I shouldn't have worried- God had it all worked out.  I had committed it to enough prayer that He had it all under control.  Now I just have to follow His will.

I have missed blogging and I hope that as we settle into a new routine that I will pick back up on my posts.  Prince "T" and Princess "C" are posting every Tuesday and Thursday as part of their typing program so be sure and check out their latest entries.  The other thing they are doing for typing is the BBC: Dance Mat Typing free typing program.  They seem to really be enjoying it.

In other news I spent 2 hours and 1 minute on  the phone yesterday with my best girlfriend!!!  It was so wonderful to be able to catch up with her.  I chatted with her during my scheduled hobby/special project time.  We are making plans for a wonderful, fun filled camping trip to Fort Richardson State Park, Historic Site
& Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway
.  I am getting so excited as this will be the first time our family has gone camping.

I have lots more to say so I better split this into multiple posts.  Glad to be back and can't wait to hear from all my Bliends.
