Some how the last month or so have flown right past me.
Little Timothy is not so little, he is not yet 4 months and weighs almost 18 lbs. Terresa is still my little girl though, at 2 years(she just had her birthday the 28th) she is only 25lbs.
The holidays were good and the kids when they weren't sick, had a blast. The youngest 4 girls have all been sharing a virus since the week before Christmas. Some how Katelyn didn't get it and they were nice enough not to share with Timothy too.
We are starting back to real lessons tomorrow, we have been doing hands on and real life lessons for almost a month. We have only had out the SSW&R in the last month. Math has been online and everythign else has been real life. Some things we will keep using real life for or at lest a major item in supplementing. Math is much more fun in the kitchen.
Katelyn got a Snap Pro circuit set for Christmas and has been working with that daily. She loves leaning about how things work and this is perfect. She has a wish list for her birthday in March already, 6 things that all are snap circuits items.
We are making a Lap Books for math this week and Danelle wants to start to learn to rad, so she is getting a ABC one. She is only 4, 5 in March, but so wants too, course she goes in for her speech evulation soon and I am not looking forward to that at all. Morgann who just turned 3 is talking much better and some words/sounds Terresa at 2 has down better already.

October is here

September went so fast I can't believe it is over already. The girls are loving their new brother. We are slowly getting back into the swing of things again. My mom has gone home, we miss her so much already.
Morgann had her 3rd birthday she is getting so big. Thankfully grandma was here for her party, she loved it. Of course she had a froggy birthday cake and got either frogs or trucks for all her gifts. She is so not a girly-girl but she is still a cutie pie. Hopefully next week I will get her cake pictures up. She helped me make it so it isn't anything great, but she loved it.
I have to thank Sheri (
http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/RollsLife/) for another great idea. I have been trying to get my oldest daughter Katelyn who is 8 more into reading and writing. Well we have been working with the Story starter idea Sheri posted some time ago and when stopping by this weekend for a visit to her blog I got another great idea I borrowed. Katelyn now has her own blog(
http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/knt) and she loves the idea. She has been writing all weekend, with out being made too. She has to complete the story and then she can post it. She is also wanting to post pictures and a short bit about her weekly art class. Not only is she taken to writing but she wants to stop by Richies and Devan's blog and read their last stories too. Finally something to get her wanting to not only write, but read too. We have struggled for so long with her reading and writing and for her to ask to do either is music to my ears, and is going to help her allot in her reading class too. Her blog is empty but hopefully in a day or two she has at lest one of her stories up. I am trying to make it more child looking, but she picked out what is there. Now Breanna wants one too, so look out for a post saying I gave in and let my 6 year old start blogging too. Although Breanna loves to read and write so really I expect her blog to fill up very quickly once I let her open it. I think for her birthday I will let her open one. I want for now it to be something special for Katelyn so she doesn't give up on it. She struggles so much more then Breanna in reading and seeing Breanna just get it with out a problem makes it harder for Katelyn and makes her not want to do it even more.

August is almost over and school started today

We have been getting ready for the new baby, only a few weeks left. This weekend I am washing the bedding for the Amby Bed and hoping to finish the crib set for when he moves from the Amby to the crib. Terresa is very attached to the crib so it will be some time till she is ready to give it up, which is fine with us.
The older girls are getting excited about the new baby and starting school. Which we officially started today, with very limited books, and a lot of lessons printed off line for them. It went ok, a rough start, but my mom called as I was setting up and the girls took setting up for starting. But we got in everything I was hoping to, we only did a few subjects but it went very well. I no longer have a kitchen table again, but that is fine with me.
This week is Save your Smile week, so we are learning about teeth, and tomorrow is Angel Day. The oldest 2 picked one of their sisters name and will do two or three nice things for that sister tomorrow. We are going to talk tonight about things they can do for them. It should be fun, or at least I am hoping it is. We don't have a Saint of the week, but our Country this week is Morocco. We learned a little about it today, just a general over view. Tomorrow we will learn more about the Berbers that live there and the mountains in the area, how they compare with other mountains in the world. Then Wed more about the food and some more culture, traditional clothing and such and Thursday they want to learn about the Straight of Galbirtor and why it was named that. I think that will lead to Spain being our country of the week next week.

Monday Madness
Posted in Random thoughts
Monday really is a hectic day in my house and I have no idea why it is so bad, yet it is and I don't know how to change it so I am learning to make light of it.
We are waiting, me more patiently then the girls, still for our real school work for the year to come in. Breanna ask at least twice a day if we are doing school work, she is not happy about waiting, and needs to learn patients. Katelyn is ready to something, anything but is holding out better then Breanna. Danelle is antsy cause she knows I bought her a workbook this weekend, and Morgann is convinced she is getting school books in the mail this year too, I better make sure to order her some this week.
Of course today is a day I would normally outline the month, but I cant because I dont know when the books will get in, so I dont know what we are hoping to get done this month. I have gone to monthly plans instead of weekly so it is less work for me to start with and more time to get it all in if we end up with a day off that isnt planned.
So to curb them this morning I told them we would do something this afternoon. I gave Katelyn a min-magazine I got with crafts a few months back last night to pick out something. She found salt crystals, course Terresa took the magazine and we have no idea where it is. I got online and got the recipes and told them Terresa had to be napping when we started since I needed almost boiling water for it. Well, let me tell you, never have they been so good and quiet during lunch and watching Scooby Do (what is on after lunch here) while I put Terresa down. I almost thought they feel asleep down here waiting.
So we made 2 jars of salt crystals, one green for Morgann and a red one for Katelyn. Then since they were being good we did sugar crystals too. We did 2 of them too, yellow for Danelle and blue for Breanna. The blue got really dark so we wont be able to watch the crystals form, but they can see them once they are done. They were really excited and into it. They have agreed that something hands on like that a day will work till the books come in. So tomorrow we are making sundials, not sure how that will work, but it should be interesting. I am hoping to be able to get pictures since they will be able to do some of that on their own. So the mornings they have free, they have to be quiet when I put Terresa down and then we will do crafts, they dont like art, so we have to call whatever project we do craft or science, which is what we called it today. Katelyn and Breanna are going to spend some time in the afternoon on their Study Dog program this week also. Hopefully it is close enough to school work for Breanna, she didnt think of it as school work last time she used it so we shall see.
I am thinking of starting the color of the week next week for the girls and adding more of the extras we do for school even if the books are here. It will amuse the kids and give us more time to think of what extras work for us still this year and what wont. We are doing the holiday of the month again. We are starting this month, I just have to have the oldest 2 help me pick the August holiday, I have found a few cute odd ones but not sure which to go with yet. The ones I am thinking about are, National Aviation Day-August 19th; National Sponge cake Day - August 23rd; National Toasted Marshmallow Day- August 30rd or forgoing the holiday for a week observance, Save your Smile Week is the 20th-26th. Course I think the girls would enjoy the National Underwear day on the 9th of Aug the most. Good thing I have a few days to pick one. National Sisters day on the 6th would be a good one for the girls though also. So many that would be cute and fun this month we might do more than one this month. Since their books arent in, it might be a good idea to do a few extra to give them more to do till their stuff gets in too.

Half way through the week

It has been a long week, my back was bothering me monday and tuesday but is much better today.
The girls have been good though and helpful, we have managed to even keep on track with studies. It is nice now that they are starting to be able to work alone more.
Katelyn has really taken a liking to reading and is reading through every book we have in her level. She is even reading to her sisters.
The new Science came in and although it is alittle different then I thought, it is very nice and the girls are loving it. Which is the main thing, they are learning and having fun while learning. I still can't wait to start the next level in science it is more hands on and I think that they will like that.
We talked to my sister and neice today, it was my neice birthday. The girls love talking to family, and it is nice it makes us feel not so far away from family when we can talk. We are hopefully going to do some sightseeing in Seoul this weekend. I am still working on getting the pictures from the last trip uploaded, maybe I will do that this weekend too. I had over 800 photos on my camera so I have alot to go through.. It is not just from the one trip though, it is all I have taken since we got here in Decemeber.

Finally after over a week they are almost done working on the gas pipes by our house. They have been digging up the road, laying pipes, changing the houses here from tank to city gas. So needless to say they have also been changing the pipes on the houses and installing meters. It has made for a long week or so since there is no were outside the girls to play when they are working. They only have to relay part of the road, mainly brick so it shouldn't take long. Then once again the girls can go outside to play. Hopefully Terresa will start napping better now that the workers won't be waking her up ever time she falls asleep too.
School is going good, just waiting still for science and some cards I ordered. I am also still waiting for a book I ordered DH for Easter and my planner I ordered. I am going to have to email the company about them I think.
I am trying to decided if I want to order everything for the coming year now, or keep how I have been and when getting ready to need the next book buying it then. There are pros and cons to both way so it is a hard choice. I could get it all now and be done till next year and know that I can use the tax refund to cover it for now on, but then if we don't get to it, or change our mind on the course I have it already. Although ordering as I go it nice cause I know I am going to use it, but there are times when I think it will be a month or so and order it and then need it in a week or so and we have to sit around and wait for it. Course DH thinks both is a good idea and just do what ever is easier for me. Well the only thing I know for sure that has made anything easier is the tracking program. DH finally checked it out last night, he really likes it too. I might end up getting the premium version(running basic now) for the next school year or the next term and starting our year then.
