May. 4, 2009 - "Sweet Sixteen" Surprise Party

On Saturday we had a wonderfully succesful "Sweet Sixteen" surprise party for my sister Arya. We had been planning for it for a couple of months and we were all so excited when she had completely no suspicions and was VERY surprised. It was a lot of fun. We invited people from our church, her debate partner and other friends that we knew through speech and debate or my Dad's work. We had a slideshow of pictures of her, a cake with her picture, streamers, balloons and tons of food. A couple of ladies had been asked to share a few things about Jordan and with Jordan, and they said some really nice things. My Dad also had little devotional for her, which was really special. Finally we all played Catch Phrase, which was lots of fun, although a couple of the teenage girls there got really wild and started throwing it across the room at one point! Just as a note, Arya doesn't actually turn sixteen until May 12th . After most of the guests had left, we had asked a couple girls in advance to stay for a sleepover! We watched a movie (that was a little disappointing), played Twister and talked (and giggle ;) for a while. We had great time together.

Don't you just love the feeling of taking someone by surprise when you've been planing it for a while? I am glad that Jordan had a great time. Where to begin? A lot is going on right now (details later) and 18 more days till we have summer break. God bless,
