Adventures in Brewsterland

• Aug. 29, 2007 - Is it Wednesday or Thursday?

I seem to be a day ahead this week. I can't seem to get it straight no matter how many times I look at the calender! Argh!

This has been a busy week. No matter what I do to prepare for next week, my list keeps getting longer. The boys are now starting to get excited about starting a new school year.

I am preparing to make blueberry jam. This is my first time doing it alone, so I am a little nervous

My husband has been feeling much better in the past couple days. I am so thankful for that!!!

4sweetums requested more info on the Peacemaker curriculum. It is great! It teaches a biblical approach to conflict resolution. The website is peacemakers.net  If you click on the bookstore and then "teaching children" it will show you the program. They also publish lots of other materials as well.. they have courses for churches etc, I have read "peacemaking at home" which is very good as well. Actually the young peacemakers takes the principals from that book and puts it into a format for kids. There is a book (for the parent) and then a series of 10 workbooks, actually they look like comic books, that have activities in them for the kids with questions etc. My boys love them!!

Another great resource is the "Generations of Virtue" website. They have a lot of materials regarding purity, character and also a great course for boys called "The squire and the Scroll - A Tale of the Rewards of a Pure Heart" this has a book and an activity book (great for fathers/sons to do together) which reinforce and teaches about the principals in the book. It all ends with a a squire ceremony, the transformation from the 'squires in training, to squires of the scroll. I can't wait to start this program with our oldest son. I think the website is generationsofvirtue.com

Okay, I am off to the store for sugar and pectin... wish me luck!
