Proverbs 17:1 Better is a dry morsel and quietness therewith, than an housefull of sacrifices with strife. It has come up recently (to me ) that the world around me is busy busy busy, going here and there, at hyperspeed. I read in the papers, I hear on the radio, about families who never eat together, talk together or have time together, except for driving around in a car from one thing to another..to soccer, to violin lessons, to meetings, whatever. I have had relatives who went to week long meetings, concerts, or 3-4 meetings a week for organizations or clubs, and they think I am a fanatic for going to church Sunday and Wednesday. I am making an effort to not get into that chaos. I am saying NO to extra activities in hopes that our home will be peaceful, loving and a refuge from a crazy world. Lord willing, I am working to make our home a place that my husband loves to come home to and my children bring their friends to..In the past 2 yrs many temptations (toils , and snares lol) have already come my way, offering to get lessons for this or that or a club for him and a club for her, a class for this and that, offers for jobs- outside family pressure/the social/financial pressure to work a job outside the home. I am making a choice to live in a way that is contrary to what the world says. When the world, the flesh and the devil bother me, I go to the Lord..Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee. Revelation 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things that remain. |
