Far away...

I am very sad today. You see, back in 1995 I lost my brother to a tragic death. In addition, I lost his daughter... not to death, though it might as well have been...
My brother was not married to the mother of his child. After his death, this woman took my niece away from our side of the family. She was only 2 when my brother died... she is now 14.
Through the miracle of the internet, I have found her. Sadly, I can't contact her as her site is set to private. I have also found her mother's site, and have yet to contact this woman. See... my family tried many, many times to contact my niece. All efforts were met with resistance, and we are sure that any cards, letters, or phone calls were discarded, and my niece was never informed of them.
I should get to the point of this article.... Please pray for me and my family. Pray that my niece's heart would be softened to receiving communications from this side of the family. There is a whole other side to her life that she does not realize exists. There has been a gaping hole in our hearts since 1995... now the pain is fresh again as the hope of seeing this child has been rekindled... We need her in our lives... we miss her desperately...

I wish you all the luck in the world and also all the grace of God to help you in this situation. My oldest daughter has been keeping our grandchildren from us for no good reason. She comes up with excuses and we shake our heads wondering what she is reffering to. All this happened after the birth of our first grandson. Not after the first three grandaughters. My wife and I lost our only son a day after he was born, so my daughter doing this to us right after our grandson was born just hurts us so badly. She of course calls us when she needs something, ( she just miscarried a few weeks ago) but never returns our calls. Refuses even to let us help babysit her children even in the situation she just went through.
Again I pray that you find a resolution to this situation.

Any news on your niece? This must be so hard for you not being able to have contact with or see her. I am praying that God will intervene in a miraculous way!

I will be praying that God will make a may for your family to be reunited. It is so sad when a mother would choose to keep a part of a childs life a secret, I know. My husband has a daughter who has no idea that her step-dad is not her real dad and she has know idea that she has 2 sisters. It is my prayer as well to find my step daughter and reunite her with her real father. You are in my prayers!
