The Details - God's Hand at Work

Posted in Single Moms as Keepers at Home

I thought some of you might be encouraged to see God's hand at work, in even the littlest of details.  I've been a little (okay a lot) discouraged lately.  I've even questioned if it was really the Lord's will for us to move and be where we are -- which by the way, I know it is, it's just when the discouragement starts you question absolutely everything.

I have a furniture connection in my family and recently asked if they ever got used dining room sets or chairs.  The ones we have are very pretty, but are NOT comfortable, especially to sit at the computer or sewing machine for any length of time.  I've avoided doing things I enjoy (sewing and writing) because it irritates my back to sit in these chairs.  I was assured that this is very unlikely and unusual.  I chalked it up to the fact that I needed to just suck it up and deal.  Then on Monday our newest FingerHut catalog arrived.  I thumbed through it before pitching it in the trash.  There in the dining room furnishings was THE set I've always loved Tile topped table (don't care whether it is tile or natural wood, I love both looks) with the painted legs and the Windsor style chairs.  I cut the picture out and put it by the computer.  These are definitely NOT in the budget, but sometimes a picture inspires me and is good incentive.

Yesterday morning (Tuesday), I called a friend, shared several prayer requests and had a good cry then headed for the shower.  My daughter burst in to announce that in 20 minutes our family member would be arriving -- with dining room chairs.

I cried again.  And I prayed very specifically -- thank you Lord, I don't care what they are, they will be better than what we have.

I now have two Windsor chairs (natural wood seats and green back and legs) which match the rest of my colors in my kitchen/dining area.

Only God can do that!  It was, I believe, His way of reminding me that He is in control, He only wants what is best for me and He provides for us, right down to the craziest details.

Has God handled the details for you lately?

Blessings, MaggieRaye

That is wonderful. God is awesome and He amazes me at his attention to every tiny detail in our lives! I hope that you enjoy your new chairs!

One of the things that kind of bother me is that my step-mother-in-law is seventh day adventest. I celebrate the sabath on sunday. When I visit them or they visit me, I haven't been sure which day to honor. They had planned to come either sat or sunday this week. I got a call this morning at 10:00 with my fil saying they were coming to day. I am glad God worked it out that I wouldn't have to worry about which day to honor.
