I Kissed Dating Goodbye By Joshua Harris The Dating Quiz: Q: Does your current relationship hinder you from serving God as a single person? Q: What is your motivation in a relationship - pleasing yourself or serving the other person? Q: Do you give yourself away physically or emotionally in ways you regret later? Tired of the game? Kiss dating Goodbye. I KISSED DATING GOODBYE shows what it means to entrust your love life to God. Josh Harris shares his story of giving up dating and discovering that God has something even better - a life of sincere love, true purity, and purposeful singleness. And that is what is on the back cover of Josh's book - I Kissed Dating Goodbye. I enjoy challenging myself with something like this every once in a while! In our day and age, kids should DEFINATELY read this as a teen. Firstly, though, I would like to say that this book is not the Bible. I don't agree with every word in it. In some places, Josh words it as if he thinks sin is just something you can't help but do. I entirely disagree on that point, Josh. The Bible clearly states that WE CAN LIVE FREE FROM SIN, and I sincerely wish this book had gone over that, but - it simply cannot be helped. Otherwise, this book is great! He brings out some awesome points! Let me share a section with you: It was finally here - Anna's wedding day, the day she had dreamed about and planned for months. The small, picturesque church was crowded with friends and family. Sunlight poured through the stained-glass windows, and the gentle music of a string quartet filled the air. Anna walked down the aisle toward David. Joy surged within her. This was the moment for which she had waited so long. He gently took her hand, and they turned toward the alter. But as the minister began to lead Anna and David through their vows, the unthinkable happened. A girl stood up in the middle of the congregation, walked quietly to the altar, and took David's other hand. Another girl approached and stood next to the first, followed by another. Soon, a chain of six girls stood by him as he repeated his vows to Anna. Anna felt her lip begin to quiver as tears welled up in her eyes. "Is this some kind of joke?" she whispered to David. "I'm . . . I'm sorry, Anna," he said, staring at the floor. "Who are these girls, David? What is going on?" she gasped. "They're girls from my past," he answered sadly. "Anna, they don't mean anything to me now . . . but I've given part of my heart to each of them." "I thought your heart was mine," she said. "It is, it is," he pleaded. "Everything that's left is yours." A tear rolled down Anna's cheek. Then she woke up. This is the first thing you'll read in IKDG. It was a dream a young lady had, and it was so powerful, she wrote it in a letter to Josh, and he ended up using in his book. Wouldn't it be awful to have this happen to you on your wedding day? To have everyone that you've flirted with emotionally or physically throughout your life, come up and ruin your wedding day? We should think of it that seriously when tempted to want a boyfriend/girlfriend for our selfish pleasures. This is only a fraction of I Kissed Dating Goodbye. I highly reccomend it. Pearl Maiden By H. Rider Haggard This is an excellent tale of a young Christian woman named Miriam, living in A.D. 70 in the Roman Empire during the first century after Christ. As Miriam faces hardships and fiery trials, her faith is continually strengthened by God. Plot: She has several young men "after" her, but she will not marry someone that is not serving God. Her grandfather had murdered her parents by handing them over to the Romans to be martyred, and yet she must go live with him! The events portrayed are awesome examples of faith for any girl, teen, or adult. With the Roman Seige and destruction of Jeruselum and its temple, the book doesn't get boring! Tip Lewis and His Lamp Isabella Alden Tip Lewis and his roguish pals had no idea of learning anything when they sat in the corner at the mission school, boisterously pulling each other's hair and laughing. They had no interest in God. They cared only for adventure and mischief. In fact, they had come to the school only because it was too hot for fishing. Then somehting the shy, quiet Miss Perry said caught at Tip's imagination. Soon he found himself wondering what it would be like if he were the best boy in town instead of the worst. Like an eager traveler on a strange, new journey, Tip began drinking in Miss Perry's words and the Scriptures she shared. But could someone as bad as he ever attain the lofty goals and ideas she taught? Or would his position and circumstances conspire to keep him forever a scamp, separated from those whose lives he was beginning to admire? -Tip Lewis and His Lamp This book shows what grace God has for such naughty children and sinners like Tip. It demonstrates the bad characters one has and how to turn them into good. I love this book. It did me good reading it! Keeping It Real Heather Jamison Keeping what real?
