Pearl Maiden
By H. Rider Haggard
This is an excellent tale of a young Christian woman named Miriam, living in A.D. 70 in the Roman Empire during the first century after Christ. As Miriam faces hardships and fiery trials, her faith is continually strengthened by God.
Plot: She has several young men "after" her, but she will not marry someone that is not serving God. Her grandfather had murdered her parents by handing them over to the Romans to be martyred, and yet she must go live with him!
The events portrayed are awesome examples of faith for any girl, teen, or adult. With the Roman Seige and destruction of Jeruselum and its temple, the book doesn't get boring! |
