Have you ever considered yourself DANGEROUS?
You are! You may be thinking, "How can God use me?" He can! You become very dangerous when you become available. Ask yourself, "Am I willing to follow?" If you answer with a yes, that's all it takes. Jesus already believes you can follow Him through His grace, if you accept that He is God's Son and have asked Him to take control of your life. Now what? Following Jesus is doing whatever you can to move toward the goal of becoming like Him. In Jesus' time there was a saying that you should follow your rabbi so closely that you'd be quite dirty at the end of the day because the dust that kicked up from his feet would get on your clothes. You become dirty for Jesus when you closely follow Him. Jesus desires for us to be dangerous for Him. He wants us to love people like He does. To love the outcasts in our community, go above and beyond for an enemy or be bold when an opportunity arises to share about our relationship with Him. He wants us to follow so close that every day we think differently about our purpose; that we become sensitive to the needs around us; that we see where He's already working and join Him. He doesn't require you to have the Bible memorized, although He wants you to hide His truth in your heart. He doesn't require you to have mastered rigorous disciplines, although He desires you to become devoted to Him. He simply asks you to be available and willing got continually move toward the goal of becoming like Him. He longs to help you do that in a growing relationship with Him. Sounds like a good plan, huh? But what does it really mean to closely follow Jesus? Think about who Christ is and how He interacted and loved people. Look at the Scriptures, write down the qualities you see in His life and see how you can implement them into you life. Here are some tips on getting started. Live in your purpose. It's easy to get caught up in busyness and routine and forget why you're here. "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10. We're created to help in God's work. He created each of us with unique qualities to serve Him. What do you love doing? How can you do that for God's glory? Take small steps. Following Jesus doesn't mean you try to conduct your own Sermon on the Mount on your school campus. Build relationships with people who don't know Him and see how God wants to use you in their lives. Your acts of friendship may speak a lot louder than words. Jesus' disciples were available and willing to follow. They were just a group of guys who weren't already following a rabbi, and they changed the course of history by spreading Christ's truth. They were considered dangerous because they continued to move toward the goal of becoming like their teacher. Welcome to the team where anybody who is willing to follow Jesus can be used to do extraordinary things to serve Him. If you accept this mission you're bound to hear, "Watch out, their dangerous!"
