God is the One who made heaven and earth, day and night, the sun, moon and stars, the land, sky and sea, and every kind of animal and plant. God’s most fabulous creation is people. He is a real, living God who loves everyone He created.
Just as you want people to know you for who you really are on the inside, God wants people to know Him for who He really is. He has feelings and desires and emotions and opinions.
God has many wonderful characteristics. He is good and kind and just. The Bible tells us that He is “merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.” (Psalm 103:8) We can never know everything about God, but there are some things that we can tell about Him from the Bible, which is God’s Word.
Have you ever experienced the thrill of watching a flash of lightning split across the sky while a rumble of thunder shook the ground? Maybe you've seen the wonder of a rainbow stretched across the clouds after a spring rain, or spied a shooting star soar across the night sky? Have you ever stopped to think that a thunderstorm or rainbow could be evidence of God's presence and power in the earth today?
“When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” says Psalm 8: 3-4.
Of course, the Holy Bible is the very best source of information about God. You need to read and study it for yourself. Recognize His power and presence all around you. Can you see God in your everyday life?
Your sense of awe and wonder at God will grow deeper and stronger as you see God in the people, places, and creation around you. Life will get very exciting and you will find your faith overflowing!
Pause for one moment and stretch your mind. Think about everything in heaven and earth. Everything!!! What comes to your mind when you think of everything? Try writing down a list of what comes to your mind. Think about the galaxies above us, the tiny seeds of grass beneath our feet, and every single person, place, and thing in-between. After you've taken some time to write out your list, read the following verse: "Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.." 1 Chronicles 29:11
Everything in the heaven and earth is the Lord's! Can you even imagine that? God created it all, and it all belongs to Him! What an overwhelming thought! I encourage you to keep your list of "everything" and begin to add to it for one week. I wonder how many pages you'll end up with! Think about some of your favorite things in the heavens and the earth and write those down too. Talk to your friends, parents, and siblings and get them to help you make your list. You will be blessed as you begin to see how creative and powerful our God really is!
Right now, think of something incredible God made and leave a comment including what it is and your blog. If you don't have a blog, just leave your name. I want to see how many people are as in Awe of Our Mighty God as I am!
