My oldest daughter and I just returned home from our evening at Shakespeare in Central Park. We attended the opening night of Pericles. This performance was masterfully done. We completely enjoyed the experience. The sky was overcast, threatening rain, but all we got were a few stray drops. This created a cool, breezy night for a July 3rd performance, a real treat during this time of year.
Going to this with her brought back memories from my teen years attending all the plays with my older sister, Katrina, then later my husband and I worked the concession stand there (for half off snacks) while my parents attended and kept Christina sitting with them. Those were such fun memories. When my family comes in town later this month, 12th Night will be showing. I have not read that play, but if it is suitable, perhaps we will attend a showing.
Central Park is very close to the college campus she will be attending in the fall, so we got to discuss college years some too. Has it really been 14 years since I graduated? Where has the time gone. Oh, and yes, she was the baby I was nursing while a young college student. I don't know if the walks through memory lane are making me feel old or young, but it sure is emotional. I have to let go, and yet, have to hold on too. Finding the balance is hard.
Happy Homemaking!
