Cedar Hill
Oct. 6, 2006 - Our model tabernacle

This week we've been studying the tabernacle and today we built a model.  It was fun!  We went simple, instead of fancy and so here it is...

Here is S making the golden lampstand:

If it doesn't look "golden" that is because instead of driving 30 minutes with 5 children to buy yellow Model Magic or Sculpey and yellow paint, I made the executive decision to "make do" and use what we already had- modeling clay.

Here we have the outer courtyard:

From left to right:  The bronze laver (wash basin), the bronze altar, and the sacrifice (a bull without defect.)

Inside the Holy Place:

Okay, that would be the High Priest (no white robes, sorry), the altar of incense to the right of him, then moving clockwise, the table of showbread (yes, there are 12 separate loaves) and the golden lampstand.  Then behind you can see the veil of finely twisted linen, and the Holy of Holies.

Closer view of the veil:

Closeup of the Holy of Holies, with the Ark of the Covenant:

If you'd like to learn more about the tabernacle, and how its features represent our Lord here is a great site:

What a wonderful thing to see our boys so engrossed in such a teaching-learning project. I'm so glad you are recording this all for all to see now and for the boys to see years later.
Love to all, Yaya

I'm sure the boys enjoyed that and will remember the details better because of the hands-on project!
