For those of you who have never heard of these take heart, I hadn't either until last Friday! No, they aren't what they sound like either! LOL! CLOSE though! When an owl eats a small rodent (or whatever) it eats it whole. The owl's body can't process all of the bones, fur and whatnot so whatever the owl's body can't use, the owl regurgitates back up! Hence the owl pellet. Gross?? Yes. Fascinating?? Oh yes! Especially for two little boys!! So today, we're armed with magnifying glasses and tweezers to pull apart three of them! I'll take some pictures too so you can all see what it looks like. (If you dare!!! LOL!) The pellets actually come from a place online that sterilizes them before they ship them so there aren't any germs! Pretty neat!! |
