| Our pastor spoke on depression this morning. I thought the information was worth keeping. Definition of depression:
Depression is a God given response (emotion) to a appropriate stimulation. Men are 7 - 8 time more likely to be depressed than women. Mostly because women find someone to talk. Men tend to keep things to themselves. Sermon Text - Psalms 42 Key Verse - Psalms 42:5, 11 John? Wesley and Charles Spurgon suffered from prolonged bouts of depression. David, Moses, Elijah, Jeremiah all suffered from times of depression. Depression is to our emotional health what pain is to our physical health. Why are you downcast, O my soul? Acknowledge the depression and determine how severe it is. Talk with a caring person Ask yourself Am I exhausted - physically, spiritually?Is this a cycle in my lifeRead the following Psalms - 42, 43, 55, 58. 59. 143. Read these and even use them as prayers. Especially when it is hard to pray.Seek out others to pray for you - not give advice or judgement, just pray for you. Remember, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are always in God's presence praying for you.Don't be surprised when God provides a need. Example the angle bringing Elijah food in the wilderness. |
