My dad turned 88 years old this past Tuesday, but he thinks he is 90! I guess that's how I'll be if I live that long. I see my dad as a solid rock imbedded in an old river bed, high above the other rocks and pebbles. Water rushes over him and slowly, ever so slowly, bends him to its will, layers smoothing down with time. Other pebbles and rocks around him are picked up by the water and swept away down the stream, but my dad rock remains solid and still.
Nice metaphors about your Dad. I should be so "rock solid" at 90 (if I live that long). How are things going with you? I've been swamped, as usual (so what else is new?), but today I'm all caught up so I can visit a bit....
to your papa. 88 is a long time to live. My great grandmother lived to over 100. How much life you see, what changes.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
My husband is a contractor and this was the latest house he was building - so no it is not ours. They have a great view though and the kids love to go visit Dad on the job.
That is a beautiful, picturesque way of explaining what your dad means to you. I've never been quite so elegant in my descriptions, but I do understand your feelings - my dad was my rock, too.
I love your new pics!

What a great party you had. I guess when we are that old there really isn't a difference between 88 and 90. May the Lord bless him and may His 90th birthday be as special as his 88th.
I loved your stream analogy! That was so cool!

I am not a home educator, but am very proud of my daughter, jenn4him, who homeschools my three precious grandchildren. I admire you all. Thank you for being my source of inspiration.
May God Bless You,
