Mar. 1, 2007 - .Decisions, Descisions...
I tried posting last night, but couldn't get anything to work properly!
Well, I saw Professor Illidge, who was very pleasant. He told us a lot more about the MIBG treatment than we were told the last time I had it done (about 2 - 3 years ago). He seemed to think that, for the sake of very little difference being made to my overall condition, a stay in an isolation ward for approx. 2 weeks might be too much to ask. From what he said, this treatment is very good at treating the symptoms of carcinoid (which, at present, I do not suffer unduly from) but has no effect on the size of any tumours. He is going to leave it up to us to decide what we think we should do:
1. Do I want to be pumped full of radioactive isotopes again?
2. Do I want to stay in isolation for a long period of time?
3. Do I want to consider the other treatment suggested by Dr. Valle instead?
So, I could do with some prayers for a clear mind to think about these things - and, as DH seems keen for me to try anything and everything, for me to have the strength to stand up for myself in our discussions. After all, it is my body that is going to be affected by all this!!
On a happier note - today is St. David's Day, the national day of Wales (land of my birth) and I have been wearing my daffodil (national flower of Wales) proudly all day! I did get a few funny looks from people when we went grocery shopping, but I wasn't bothered! It gave them something to puzzle about for the rest of the day! So, I'll sign off with a Welsh phrase:

I'm so sorry to hear about your tumors!! We will certainly be praying about this. Also for you to have clarity of mind to make decisions! Sending big (((HUGS)))! Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help? Do you mind if I posted this on the UK blog? Others could be praying too.
