Moving the Mountain

Jul. 24, 2008 - Thankful Thursday

There are many things in my life for which I should be thankful.  Here are a few of them that I wish to offer up -

1. I am thankful that we have cooler mornings at the moment.  It makes it much easier for me to get things done around the house and garden when I am not feeling hot and sticky!

2. I thank the Lord for helping my son to do so well over the past few weeks.  He has gained nationally recognised awards for swimming and for amateur radio.  I pray that he will use these talents well.

3. I am thankful for the internet - not just for blogging and as a means of keeping in contact with online "friends" but as a research tool.  I am very keen on family research and recently found details of my great-great-grandparents through a website.  He was a shoemaker in the town where I was brought up (in 1891).

4. I am thankful that my husband is going to drive us to see my father tomorrow.  My mother died in January this year and this will be the first time that Dad will be on his own on their wedding anniversary.  I am also thankful that Dad is looking forward to our visit!

5. I am thankful that I am still doing well healthwise - the doctors tell me that this cancer will never be cured, but they are doing everything to make my life easier.  I continue to believe that true healing only comes from God - He is the Great Physician!

"If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." - 1 Timothy 5:8

Wonderful things to be thankful for. My husband lost his Dad this January. It hasn't been an easy year. I'm glad you'll be there for your Dad.
Blessings,
Kim

That is so thoughtful of you to spend time with your dad on the anniversary. Those anniversary dates can be so hard, especially during that first year. He will really appreciate it. Thanks for sharing your heart with us.

Your thankful list is wonderful. I am glad you are able to go and visit your father, as it is very difficult to face such days alone.

Take care. I've put your name on my prayer list.
Blessings,
Mary

Chrissy? You have cancer? I didn't know!! I'm so sorry, my friend! I will keep you lovingly in my prayers.

I hope your Dad enjoys your visit, and doesn't get too melancholy. I'll say a prayer for him today.

I sure wish it would cool down here. Soon enough, I suppose. :)

Have a lovely weekend, and travel safely.
love,
~Shani

Hi there!
I am so glad that you are going to get to go be with your Dad, especially knowing it will be such a hard day for not only him but your whole family. I really understand your loss as my own Mom passed away 17 months ago, and it still hurts, and still miss her. For you, it has only been 6 short months. I am going to keep you in my prayers and especially tomorrow on your parents Anniversary. I also pray for you sweet Sister.
Blessings,

And I'm thankful for you too! :o) I'm so sorry that we didn't get to visit longer at the Trafford center last week. I felt so bad that things got too crazy to visit. I'm sorry if we appeared rude in rushing around and then leaving. Dh was really worried about missing his appointment and I'm glad we got off when we did, because we left, and he put the post code into the satnav wrong! We then drove for 45 minutes to the wrong address and had to drive for another hour to get where we were supposed to be!! Aaarrrggghhhhh!!!!! In the end we didn't get home that night till 7:30pm and we were supposed to had Goldilocks back by 5pm!!!! Because of being later for him meeting it meant we hit the rush hour traffic on a friday night (and the day schools had let out too!) It was a nightmare getting home. We will have to try and meet up another time when things are less insane (whenever that is!). Thanks anyway and I hope you have a lovely visit with your Dad! (((HUGS)))
