Aug. 5, 2006 - Looking Forward to School
Well Tuesday is our official first day of school! Monday I am meeting a friend in the Twin Cities for a teacher day. We will go to Northwestern bookstore, and Barnes and Nobles or Borders. I also hope to make a stop at half price Books to try and find some of the books my 23 year old needs for her Midwifery course.
Today I am going to spend the entire day copying and setting up my final binders for the school work we are doing this year. We are going to have everyone in the same main unit and we are all looking forward to this.
I still have a couple of decisions to make regarding the extras for my jr/sr high two.
I really want our first day to be an exciting kick off. We will spend the day going over everything and decorating binders. I am planning on making a pencil cake but would love any other ideas to make the day special. If the day is really pretty and the rain we are getting right now dries up I will propably surprise them with a breakfast picnic. We have not done this in a while because of cost and I know the children love to do it!
HMMM I can tell this blog is going to act like a giant goals/ journal of my plans. This should be fun! I've had a friend suggest that I also use this space to write down how I go about scheduling and planning for a large family so may do some of that. My friend Chelle says we need to be tracking this stuff while we are in this season of our life to make it available to our children. She definately has a point.. I can look back now and rememebr when i had five under 5 and think "wow those were great times". BUT at the time I remember thinking I would never get the dishes done or have a nights sleep again in my life!
OK this is getting long ! Remember if you have any great ideas for kicking off the year Please send them!

Aug. 4, 2006 - I can't believe I'm doing this!
I can't believe I am doing this! I always said I wouldn't know where to begin on a blog but thought I'd listen to all you ladies who said it is easy. I'll hold you all to that if this ends up being more work than I can handle! LOL!
I hope to use this space to write notes about our school days and let my older adult children get a glimpse into the life of their younger siblings days.
Our family consists of mom-me Julie, dad-Pat and 12 children ranging from 19 months to 25 years old. I also have two great daughter in laws and a grandson with another grandbaby on the way after the first of the year.
